I think from a purely technical viewpoint, cheaters will always have the advantage since they control the machine the game and anti-cheat is running on. Anti-cheat just has to keep the barrier high enough so regular players don't think the game is infested with cheaters.

>The downside is that I can't shut it down remotely without knowing when exactly to also turn off the plug. I could create some automation, but it takes about 2 seconds being off before turning on again.
Huh, I would have expected the BIOS to not do that if it detected a graceful shutdown (or at least have a longer grace period).

I just recently converted my gaming PC to a game streaming system. I considered getting a PiKVM for power/resolving issues remotely but I ended up going with Wake-on-LAN. Though setting it up was a hassle.
If you just need power control and your motherboard supports it, I've seen that some people use smart plugs and enable a setting in their BIOS that turns on the computer whenever it detects power.

At my job we can either get paid hours worked overtime or "bank" those hours to use as PTO later in the year. Unused banked time at the end of the year gets paid out. I've (thankfully) never had to work overtime but it's a pretty awesome perk that more companies should do.

In my networking class in college, our final project was to create a location sensing mesh network of devices running Contiki. The devices would receive a ping from a beaconing device and we had to locate it. We only had to worry about two axes, but the walls still made things difficult. It was a pretty fun project! It made me really interested in networking stuff.
I wish I still had the course material and code but unfortunately I lost the laptop it was on.
