There's a big "if" here - IF Amazon is actually using them to maximize profit. There's a ton of reasons they might use them even if suboptimal - vendor agreements, advertising contracts, loss leading, idk who knows

Location: Splitting time between Houston and Seattle. Not sure where I want to stay long term yet!
Remote: Preferred but not required for the right opportunity
Willing to relocate: Prefer not to but will for the right opportunity
Technologies: Historically a Laravel / full stack web developer, been developing 8+ years. Last three years have been project and product management so I'm a bit rusty/currently leetcoding and studying Django. I'd be interested in something that's maybe like a hybrid PM / dev role? Also open to something not full-time
Résumé/CV: Will provide upon request, I don't like permanent records on HN :)
Email: Please see bio

I made this project a while back which has some alignment with your goals:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/healthy-surf/
Right now it filters out entire posts on reddit/comments on youtube/sidebar items on Twitter. But I've been meaning to:
1. Expand the sites where it filters, and possibly have it automatically determine which HTML elements to remove instead of me defining it on a per-site basis
2. Make the filter list user-customizable, and change it from static words and phrases to sentiment analysis
3. User-created list of opinions you don't want to read (e.g. any arguments that are anti-nuclear energy/pro-nuclear energy, depending on your perspective). This one is especially important to me because I find contrarian opinions on certain subjects to be both exhausting and boring, and I find myself engaging with them far too often in a "someone is wrong on the internet" sort of way.
I see the value of your request, too. Sometimes it makes sense to see what a consensus is on something, but the language used to dissent can be sort of toxic.

The dumber part of that world is that there was a separate train of very similar or identical design that managed to defeat the "can't stop for prolonged period of time" plot point using nothing but what was available on the train, and it was somehow able to do this only after the world ended and not before.

My total guess not based on the drawings - the wheels of the cars move with a certain delay as a reaction to its tow bar getting turned. I would assume this delay can be configured on a per-car basis because the cars farther back may require more compensation than the ones in the front.
Although I am calling it a delay, I assume the mechanism is mechanical and there is probably a better word to describe the action where the wheels do not turn at the same time or with the same severity as the tow bar.

I built a plugin, mostly for reddit, but has the beginnings for use on twitter too. http://healthy.surf
Right now it just removes toxic crap from the sidebar, but it'd be pretty simple to make it remove tweets as well. Biggest missing feature is custom filter lists.

Yep. To filter out negativity on Reddit, in YouTube comments, and a couple other places. Needs a lot of work and completely lacks personalization options right now, but haven't had anyone show any interest in it. I don't really market it at all though.
http://healthy.surf

Location: Seattle, WA
Remote: Sure
Willing to relocate: Anywhere in Oregon or Washington
I'm a software engineer, project manager, and solutions architect who's looking to transition into product management. I've done mild PM work on my past projects but it would definitely be a learning experience for me too. I'd be inexpensive due to having all the needed skills but lacking the concrete title experience, but I'd love the opportunity to work on any projects or teams out there with an active user base.
Happy to send out my resume via email. Reach out at email@healthy.surf
Thanks!

If you have more money than god then why not start a non-profit of some sort? Between being a millionaire and still being an organization leader, there's plenty of status there. And you get to call yourself a philanthropist which is pretty flashy.
It's work, sure, but all you really have to do is hire the right person to lead the effort (and build a team under them) while you call the bigger shots. It only requires as much energy as you want to put in.

I've owned one since release and the only time it's even felt warm to the touch is after charging from a low battery. I'm also not running renders or such on them, they're not really designed for that.
No ventilation means more thermal mass in the place of airways to absorb and disperse heat. I specifically bought this model because I am tired of fans in my laptops, which have failed multiple times or become loud to the point that I couldn't even have it in a meeting room without it being a major distraction. Perfect, guaranteed silence at all times from my electronics is a beautiful thing.
