Do it. If quiet introversion is your thing then I think you've got a good plan.
You don't have to be a Manager, and you don't have to be rich. Focus on being happy instead.

There is another option. I believe Japan went through it in the 90s. So lets follow their example and do nothing about the real estate bubble too.

It is because Realtors are crooks. That's about it. We also had to tack down assignment clauses so that realtors wouldn't re-sell their client's houses for more and pocket the difference.
I also want to see mandatory home inspection, seems common sense.

1% is a lot... why can't people deal with percentages of large numbers? Its COVID all over again. 1% of 7 billion is 70 million. Thats ten holocausts!
Supply and demand means I won't go hungry, but less valuable people absolutely will. Like the Ukranians during the holodomor...

Vancouver is a great city. I didn't live anywhere near the nice parts. I was walking distance to the 7-11 and laundromat. And the apartment was infested with cockroaches.
The bank is the best landlord I ever had.
I think that a lot of $$$$$$ IT workers forget about slumlords (or are slumlords themselves!)

"Be you" is horrible advice for introverts. Be extroverted is the advice I always give. This isn't a hobby, this is capitalism, and your ability to put food on the table is going to be dependent on you faking a smile and pretending to care about other people.
The don't be afraid to sound dumb is also spot on though.

I can recall pretty much every episode of the first 10 seasons of the Simpsons in ridiculous detail because I watched hours of TV after school in the 90s, and my parents lamented that I didn't go outside enough. This isn't new.

This is exactly it. We've been spending money in our suburbs for too long and it's killing the restaurant businesses that they own.
The Gov of New York has basically come out and said exactly that.

I go to meetings for a living. Its been a huge productivity boost to not have to walk 15 minutes across campus to meet my clients. Plus I never have to worry about not having a projector.
Although you're right, I did go back to the office the other day and spent a good hour talking to a co-worker about their Caribbean vacation. I hadn't had one of those in years. Not sure how that boosted innovation and productivity tho.

Everything is a tabloid, including government reporting. We won't know how many people have died of COVID unitl the academics start studying excess deaths and get into years long fights over the minutiae of "with" and "of." We still don't have exact numbers on any modern genocides and likely won't ever.
I never expected a "free democracy" to run into basic stalinist subversion of facts, but here we are.

lmao yeah pretty much. I'm moving from a low code shop to Node/Vue because I can't keep people. They all want to pad their resume, so I'm going to build at 2x the cost just so I can keep the projects going.

Yeah that's the lean startup model. You intentionally find people who are early adopters and offer to bring them into the beta to improve the software. Its a win win situation because the feedback gives them what they want, and gives you a marketable product.
There is always a risk that the market won't like it. If you want a steady paycheque then entrepreneurship isn't for you (or isn't for you right now).

The unsaid part is that Google keeps Firefox alive so that they are not hit by anti-trust over in-browser search. That's why FF will always trail Chrome, its the designated loser. If it weren't for anti-trust, Google would have bought out Mozilla years ago.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!
I'm running a hiring competition right now for a "Senior." The pay band is less than what entry level startups pay. So we rotate through a never ending stream of kids who leave for better salaries because we don't have any higher levels.
Sometimes we do get lucky and pick up a mediocre lifer (like me) so HR sees no incentive to change.
Never take a job for a company where you are not on the value chain!
