Not much, but a decentralized system is often hard to exploit, and we're reaching points where we've established the surveillance state the populace is finally understanding the repercussions in a clear and poignant way.

Assume that means the public camera technology in general will be called Flock cameras, and people will have a more default negative reaction going forward.

This is exactly what I said to the last company (which is basically shutting down now lol) management - "infinite customizeability" means "zero percent understandability" for a typical suite of software.

I literally was told not to narrow down the features too much or the product would be too constrained... well then wtf does it actually _do_ for anyone?

We already have anti-trust and other regulation to manage this problem, we simply need to use it.

There's no end of competition, the world changes, companies bloat and make bad choices, smaller competitors can react and change faster - it's only in our corporate hegemony that we don't consider that a viable alternative.

And when you get that new job with that new stack? Switching back to the windows laptop? I learned early on in my career how to live off the land and use the tools I have given to be efficient because it is rare that I get to decide the tooling. Cross platform tools? Usually can get away with them, but beside Jetbrains stuff its all over the place.
