Not exactly Claude Desktop but we have something more "generic" that works across multiple OSes (written in Tauri) - Msty Claw [1]. It also comes with a companion E2E encrypted mobile app.

ramalama still needs users to be able to install docker first, no? That’s a barrier to entry for many users esp. Windows where I have had my struggles running Docker not to mention a massive resource hog.

There is also Msty (https://msty.app), which I find much easier to get started with and it comes with interesting features such as web search, RAG, Delve mode, etc.

I'm on Windows 11 and not sure if it is just me but your font is too hard to read. I thought it was just the blog but no, it's everywhere even on the landing page.

Totally agree! I have used many frameworks (even written my own) but nothing gets close to Laravel for PHP and AdonisJS for TypeScript in terms of features out of the box and DX.

My favorite one is LightPaper (http://www.ashokgelal.com/lightpaper-for-mac/). With multitabs and a folder navigator, among others, I can keep and edit related documents together. I wish it had a vi mode but other than that it's perfect.

Had similar experience with a project that I was responsible to release a couple of months ago. We already had an app available on Mac App Store. We then spent about 2 months adding new features and fixing bugs. Turned out, because of stupid sandboxing, we could no longer add any new features. Only bug fixes were accepted. Release got stalled for about 2 weeks trying to find a workaround. It was really depressing 2 weeks. Eventually we decided to release on our own. We notified our existing customers and gave heavy discounts for those who wanted to get the new version. Received few angry emails from our existing customers but most of them understood our problems. Other than that, it's been going smooth. We are happy we did it. We don't have to pay 30% to Apple (there is a little cost associated with licensing but it is just like 3% of the total cost). We now can release bug fixes as soon as we want. In fact, the first bug fix we did was within an hour! I'd recommend everyone to skip MAS if possible.
