My logic is not “don’t make money” but more so pick a lane

They can empower the community and let a PaaS emerge that’s locked in on their APIs for example

For example, did Shopify get into building Marketplaces for E-commerce? No

It isn’t like they would not be able to make money from the gaming industry by being just the layer zero, my beef here is that they’re going one layer up

YouTube started exactly how you described it, some silly thing not meant to be serious and today powers multiple 100M+ businesses using it for content to reach mass audiences.

Let developers use your models and tools and build stuff with it. Why own everything.

Google has too much already and in my opinion they have no business owning a gaming platform.

Do you really think Google cares about gameplay in the same likes of, say, Nintendo?

I sort of get what you're going for maybe? In a sense these things are gonna evolve at a rate where we are not going to be able to operate at their plane and we will need a sort of UX translation

Clearly we do not yet feel satisfied with the way we consume and work with agents at scale.

It looks like perhaps rather than skinning we need a more novel UX or workflow to emerge.

I can't help but think all of this is living on borrowed time and eventually it will look more like talking to your "assistant" that fields everything for you and maybe some new async interruption model that fits humans better.

Biggest bottleneck in my opinion still is how to solve for information density.

For me, personally, I have learned that fun is often more correlated with social connection and sharing than it is with subjective perception or gratification of the task at hand if removing the social element.

The most fun I had in life was when I had great teams, great people, and great challenges to share both the growth and struggles with. The rest, like what tooling we used, was optional and easy to misjudge as important at the time. Looking back I rarely recall the experience of using certain tooling over another, and often remember the people and the stories.

I mean, sometimes work falls exactly at the tool's strongest suit/match.

I am trying to think of what a comparison here could be but, for example, I remember early days in my career where pretty much 80% of the work was writing boilerplate and using scaffolding/generator tools, plugging them in the various plumbing and pipes of the stack, and just ticking boxes through Jira

Lots of "CRUD" and/or similar "recipe" type of work that was really just turning your brain off and needed that grunt labour force

You may ask: why is the person even needed?

My answer is the same as before: I don't know, I didn't know why were they needed back them either, felt like all could be automated as well, maybe the cost to invest in automating and mapping that all out was never a priority and the ROI math was "good enough" for the business while leadership had other north stars they were worried about?
