You are not actually leading until you win/achieve something.
Europe has severed itself from major sources of the fundamental driver of civilization, energy, it has bet on “renewable energy” in reckless ways, which was demonstrated by the small black swan event energy grid collapse just mere weeks ago. Germany has totally abandoned nuclear energy and has no real alternatives as it imports the majority of its energy and all its renewable energy sources are subpar, at best, and are unsustainable without massively distorting government command economy subsidies keeping afloat what is essentially a Ponzi scheme with decreasing real marginal returns. Germany, the engine of Europe, which keeps the whole EU boondoggle afloat has an avg of €0.44/kwh electricity prices.
That does not really indicate energy leadership.
Maybe Germany can get productive fusion energy online, but it also does not solve the deeper issue of a political system and control mechanism that is self-harming.
It’s the near future: Germany has successfully provided operational fusion energy. German politics and psychological control will all the sudden just give up on blaming, punishing, and hating its own people?
Everyone in Germany gets free AC and free unlimited heating? Free cars and free transportation because fusion basically nullifies the cost of energy? No, the German/EU political class loathes its own people and is recreating aristocracy, which for its own purposes relies on control and suppression of the masses. If anything the EU Lords would use that de facto unlimited energy to create unlimited AI surveillance and thought-crime robot armies to control the serfs.

The irony of the illusion is that even though “the iPhone is locked down”, practically speaking it is more your property than an android, unless things have changed since I last really cared about Android, even every single update that was pushed on you incrementally made the device and user experience slower and worse, to the point where basically your phone would accumulate performance lag incrementally and one year in you would be thinking about a new Android device. Meanwhile, a several years old iPhone basically has far closer performance to what it was on day one, even if not perfect.
It is yet another one of those oversights that people have just ignored, that when you buy a product like a phone, there is absolutely zero reason why it should not perform at the very least just as well as it did on day one if all the other conditions are the same, i.e., you have a choice about including any additional features. If you do not have a choice, e.g., because an update imposes some feature, then what you have on your hands is really just a company damaging your property.
Imagine if you took your car into mandatory services or if Tesla pushed mandatory updates that made your acceleration, breaking, turning response times slower and increased your gasoline or electric consumption; and then tried telling your how fast and smooth and efficient the new model is that behaves the same way that the old one did when you bought it.
It’s just fraud! If your update diminishes the performance and function of core capabilities, then you are liable for those damages, because you caused damages.

No. You are just not paying attention or just resorting to weather typical abusive manipulative tactics.
No. I do not flag or censor things at all under regular circumstances because I actually practice the belief that it is in fact a human right to free expression unless it is aggressively abusive or actually threatening. I will also tolerate regular harsh and abusive words and in most cases if I don’t tolerate it I will just not read it or look away or even just block. I’m not vindictive like most people seem to be today where an ideological mob forms to suppress heretical ideas that their herding instincts compel them to suppress in order to be a good member of the herd.

You’re being manipulative, the substantive point is that he cannot possibly have an even remotely accurate understanding of anything he is talking about.
Isn’t that what the last decades of ethnic abuse against “white peoples” has been about, accusing them of not knowing how it feels to be {insert some people of color label}, while also at the same time demanding proximity to “whites”?
So why would he know anything about “whites” (for brevity) but “whites” can’t speak on peoples of color even when they are demanding proximity to “whites”?
It is really rather abusive and narcissistic.
It reminds me of an Indian got I met that was exploring the German employment law to travel the world in his employer’s dime, who told me that the German economy and society was not “dynamic enough”, by which I assume he meant how he was being dynamic. And this coming from someone from a society where open defection, levels of pollution, filth, and disease are at levels that most westerners simply do not seem to have the ability to comprehend and refuse to accept when you tell them; and economy that is largely based on fraud, deception, and success is based on being able to pull over over of people, especially westerners who they’ve conflated with the British so they are proud of now conquering and destroying.

Yes, but you are missing the point. It is the issue of riding in at the last minute to benefit from the product of others’ work.
Don’t get me wrong, you’re not the only one that misses this whole issue. It is a gargantuan elephant in the room that very few people seem to be able to even get even when it is pointed out for some reason. It is fundamentally also the very core issue of “communism” and “capitalism” for that matter, albeit in different ways; wanting to exploit the dries of others’ labor.

I’m a bit disappointed that you resorted to deflection. You’re being defensive. It implies to me that you really know what I’m talking about and your subconscious is trying to ward it off.
Reality simply is that freeloading is a condition, not something you need to take personal. If you are equally benefiting from things you did not contribute to at the same total cost as those previously invested, then you are freeloading.
Should you be able to buy Bitcoin today at the original offering price? Should you have equal control as heirs of a company you did not build?
I fail to see why you and seemingly a few other people find that challenging to understand. If you pay the same price to, e.g., ride the “cheap and effective” public transportation in Europe that Europeans have been taxed hundreds of millions in capital costs over several decades to build up, how is that not freeloading?
Sure, you can’t even not freeload if you wanted to by paying higher prices and the real issue are the abusive and toxic governments in Europe in my example, but explain to me how a little old lady that gets €1000/month in pension after a life of turning Europe into what it was until recently, being taxed 40% all get life should pay the same price for a rail ticket as an American making double the European salary and paying around 25% taxes?
These are not challenging concepts. It’s a bit disheartening that presumably technical/dev type people do not understand basic systems.

I think this is a partial solution, but I have to point out that relegating that function of translator and tester to a “fresh grad”. That is ideally the exact role of a Product Manager today, the very go-between and translator with vision that can manage customer/client expectations while also adequately communicate technical concepts and both communicate initial tex task breakdowns and also run interference for devs, i.e., dish out conditional nos.
This function is both extremely critical as well as it is also not valued in my opinion. The business/client side thinks that’s what devs are for, and devs think they’re just more management until they’ve learned that (please excuse the sport metaphor since it’s not something I do, but it seems fitting) Product Managers can be the defensive line as well as the quarterback for the running backs converting, the coach’s strategy into wins and a cheering crowds instead of boos and disappointments all around.

So you will be relinquishing your citizenship and won’t run back to the USA when things go sideways over there? I’m not sure if you have the historical or political context, but Europe is staring down a hurricane on the horizon, regardless of the pleasant weather right now.
Europe as you know it, the things you like about it is fundamentally doomed because the system is designed to doom it. The EU that was a bait and switch, is now basically being run by a central committee called the EU Commission. Is fundamentally authoritarian and prone to the same failures as all hubristic central committees of know it alls.
It’s the iron triangle and the EU central committee is not only trying to pick all three while lying about it, they’re also trying to pick things outside of the triangle. It cannot and will not work because it is impossible for any amount of time.
You may enjoy it in Europe/Germany, freeloading on all the “social services” that are “free” (even though you will have surely noticed how that is changing quickly) due to the exploitation of what the indigenous people built over decades and centuries, but that’s really what it is, a fraud, even if you don’t realize it.
For example, you very likely make far beyond what the average person in Germany makes. You are living a nice life, based on what those old ethnically German people you see here and there did to rebuild the country after the war, and now get a mere €1000 per month to live on. That’s why you have “free and safe and efficient public transportation” and “free education” because they were exploited all their lives.
It is not a personal thing, it’s an issue with immigration in general as immigration is inherently freeloading when it is into a country that is more advanced or better. At the very least immigration to better countries should come with massive freeloader taxes, and immigration to worse countries should come with low-tax incentives. Just keep it in mind as you benefit from what you enjoy but did not contribute to, and quite likely also support politics of imposition from your island of exclusivity; the same politics that destroyed America.
You may not realize it, but the very same things and people that destroyed the rather nice America of the past are also now destroying Europe. You’re just riding the wave at the moment and get to enjoy the tail end of the oasis. I know this because, as unlikely and weird as it sounds, I know the people whose fathers and grandfathers, their families destroyed America and who are destroying Europe today.

Not only that, he even explicitly states that he has a mostly online perspective.
It’s a curious phenomenon that I don’t think is nearly appreciated enough that this technocratic, hubristic mindset that is prevalent among people in tech, riding high on some sense of power and high income, is causing major social issues akin to various other aristocratic type mindsets of the past; the figurative princes riding around their hereditary lands with upturned noses at the peasants they abuse that are both the source and base of their en-titled lives.
Then you add on top of that the insult of immigrants trying to lecture indigenous people they are freeloaders on about how they know better who and what they are, and you have a mixture that seems like it could easily end up boiling over for understandable reasons one day, when the resentment is explosively released because containment by the authoritarian ruling class invariably slips.

I would love to know which wipes those are, because I have never come across any that are even remotely actually dissolvable. If you know of a brand, I really would like to know which that is. Have you ever tried putting one in some water just to see how dissolvable they are?
There is also that they’re kind of a contradiction in terms anyways, they’re wet … wipes. If they were dissolvable in water, the wetness of the wipes would cause dissolvement.
What many people are not even aware of is that even all high end toilet paper in the USA is a major headache for sewer systems because even that “paper” does not dissolve well at all, because they’re so focused on making the “paper” feel soft or be durable, it’s technically not even paper anymore and actually more like a cellulose felt.

Spain has a hard time figuring out how to get their sewage system to handle regular toilet paper and many regions/places require you to deposit the toilet paper in trash cans next to the toilet. That being said, I think there are better options like a clever public awareness campaign, banning the claim of being flushable, required packaging that says not to flush, requiring to be packaged with plastic bags for disposal, or even just accumulating all the costs of issues from the wipes and charge them to the industry as a whole in various taxes and fees, which will push the incentive to solve the problem on the industry.
I used to use wet wipes and flushed them, now I have a bidet and have only ever used wet wipes when traveling, where, ironically, Spain’s issues with basic things like flushing toilet paper, make disposing/not flushing wet wipes easy because many bathrooms have a lidded trash can next to the toilet/in the stall.
Ironically, their bigger issues produce a solution to a different, bigger problem.
Note: Yes, I’m aware it’s not everywhere in Spain or only Spain, but I am curious to hear where everywhere everyone has encountered having to put their toilet paper on a trash can instead of flushing.

Because their friends and family are part of the NGO complex. Usually the directors and board members. I know this from personal experience and knowledge.
If they did not know each other from college or growing up, the NGO associated people seek out journalists for that kind of reason and journalists are often flattered by the attention, aka lobbying, and drawn in. It’s a really corrupted system that only further encourages that kind of behavior because it is the very nature of that system today that any new entrants come into.
Basically none of the transparency efforts of the mid aughts seem to have really made any kind of real impact on the corruption of the system either. I’m not sure if it’s just correlation, but it almost feels like the transparency efforts only gave false senses of confidence, not to mention that many of the transparency initiatives are also corrupted, receiving their funding also from the NGO complex and also being drawn into the complex itself. It’s an inherently incestuous system like the MIC or the judicial system.

Just because things exist does not mean transporting and securely delivering them half way across the planet would be expense free.
But maybe you are right, there should have been a way for people who want to pay for the delivery and security of that aid out of their own pockets. It could have been a voluntary sign up of whatever the cost would have been, added as a proportional tax at the end of the year, anywhere from 1%-100% of net worth.

It does not sound conspiratorial at all. I know this to be a fact from first person knowledge and experience that it is exactly what goes on in NGO board rooms. It’s not really all that different than the MIC though.
Abstracting a bit more, it’s also not really any different than aristocratic, monarchical, and even feudal patronage systems where your fortune and standing was directly linked to how close you could get to the monarch/center of power. In fact, I see the west devolving towards such patronage systems as power and wealth keeps concentrating. All across the board you see every more sycophancy as people grovel for benefits.

Not only that, but the whole system was such that the very type and nature of the support led to ever more dependency and creation of yet more need that the system could then further argue needed more support, i.e., a self-licking ice cream cone.
Worse yet, at the cost and expense of people who are damaged by being forced to support this system against their will.
I propose that everyone that supports things like USAID be able to willingly and freely sign up to have their taxes increased by whatever proportional amount is necessary to fund it every year. We need to move to a voluntarist system for anything but the tightest core functions of government.
It is a win-win, USAID continues and people get to feel good about themselves, while others are not damaged by being forced to support it against their will.

He also lived in a time when the intense importance and function of a moral and cultural framework for society was taken for granted. He would have never imagined the level of social and moral degeneration of today.
I will not go into specifics because the authoritarians still disagree and think everything is fine with degenerative debauchery and try to abuse anyone even just pointing to failing systems, but it all does seem like civilization ending developments regardless of whether it leads to the rise of another civilization, e.g., the Asian Era, i.e., China, India, Russia, Japan, et al.
Ironically, I don’t see the US surviving this transitional phase, especially considering it essentially does not even really exist anymore at its core. Would any of the founders of America approve of any of America today? The forefathers of India, China, Russia, and maybe Japan would clearly approve of their countries and cultures. America is a hollowed out husk with a facade of red, white, and blue pomp and circumstance that is even fading, where America means both everything and nothing as a manipulative slogan to enrich the few, a massive private equity raid on America.
When you think of the Asian countries, you also think of distinct and unique cultures that all have their advantages and disadvantages, the true differences that make them true diversity that makes humanity so wonderful. In America you have none of that. You have a decimated culture that is jumbled with all kinds of muddled and polluted cultures from all over the place, all equally confused and bewildered about what they are and why they feel so lost only chasing dollars and shiny objects to further enrich the ever smaller group of con artist psychopathic narcissists at the top, a kind of worst form of aristocracy that humanity has yet ever produced, lacking any kind of sense of noblesse oblige, which does not even extend to simply not betraying your own people.

That is factually incorrect. The earliest record of the related use is from the 1560s when it meant “common ancestry; bred, family, lineage”. Later scientific organization simply formalized the implied, that it is a subunit and, arguably even, a sub-subunit of order along the lines of a regional ethnic group, e.g., Appalachians, Swabians, Basques, etc. …lineage, breed, family… for which no logical argument can be made that e.g., the Northern Europeans of various regional ethnicities who have high rates of Neanderthal DNA are the same as black Africans that have zero Neanderthal DNA but have even higher rates of DNA from an unknown species. We are quite literally, objectively different species, not just races, and that should be ok … we should be ok with that.
