Connie Health | Senior Analytics Engineer | Boston, MA | HYBRID | $150k-$185k + equity
Connie Health is a fast-growing Medicare brokerage on a mission to empower older Americans to make confident, worry-free Medicare plan decisions. We offer a tech-enabled Medicare navigation platform that combines AI-driven technology with local Medicare experts to help people select optimal healthcare plans and navigate their benefits. Backed by leading investors such as Khosla Ventures, we are building technology to transform the trillion dollar Medicare insurance industry, impacting the lives of 67 million people in the US.
We are looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to own our data transformation layer end-to-end. You will build the clean, well-modeled, documented datasets that the entire company relies on, spanning board-level book-of-business reporting (policy count, retention, effectuation, commissions), stakeholder self-service through Looker, and AI-driven exploration through tools like Claude. This is a high-leverage senior IC role: the quality of our analytics, forecasts, and operating decisions all depend on the foundation you build. You'll partner directly with Engineering, Finance, and Operations to fix data quality at the source, not downstream.
Tech stack: SQL, dbt, Redshift, Postgres, Looker (+ LookML), Fivetran, Airflow, Salesforce
We're looking for 5+ years in analytics/data engineering, deep hands-on dbt experience, strong SQL, and a track record of turning messy datasets into a trusted single source of truth. Bonus points for retention/lifecycle modeling, Looker administration, prepping datasets for AI consumption, or Medicare/insurance experience.
This is a hybrid position in our new Boston office near South Station, so local candidates only please. Unfortunately we are unable to do visa sponsorships at this time.

Hey, thanks for the question.
The primary difference between the two products is that they translate your spreadsheet into a JavaScript function that can run clientside whereas we are actually using Excel to do the execution in our backend.
In terms of the pros and cons, I’d expect theirs to be faster, especially for simple calculations, since they don’t have the overhead of Excel connections that we do and can avoid the network connection if you run it clientside, whereas ours is more Excel compatible and comprehensive. For example, LambdaXL can support pivot tables and charts, but they can’t. Looking at their website, they say they support “100+ Excel formulas”. I believe Excel has around 460 formulas, and so some of the edge case / niche formulas are likely not supported.

Hey HN!
Creator of LambdaXL here. Sharing a side project that I have been working on for the past couple of months now. LambdaXL is a no code platform that lets you upload an Excel spreadsheet and it will turn it into a web calculator that you can embed into your website or you can share a link to it directly.
It uses Excel under the hood to ensure full compatibility (formulas, cross sheet references, even charts) , unlike some of the other solutions online that converts your spreadsheet into PHP/JavaScript/Python/etc.
It also saves every request so you can see what your users are doing.
Here is an example of a calculator that gets generated: https://lambdaxl.com/query/embed/b3b05024-eac5-4443-a67d-52a...

That is exactly why I wrote TeamTail :P.
If you look at the client script, it does an AES-256 encryption first before sending to my server. The data I store in my database is all just the encrypted strings. You share that password with your team, and the website will do JavaScript decryption. The password is never sent back to TeamTail.

Good question. I believe there are a couple of benefits over a simple screen share that makes it worth while:
While it can function as a realtime stream, it also allows for asynchronous collaboration. For example: you can `cat` a log/config/source/etc file to TeamTail and share the link to get feedback / help. Inline comments combined with Google/Facebook/GitHub auth allows for low-friction collaboration.
And the fact that the conversations live in a document of sorts means that you can refer back to it in the future, or you can share it with people who weren't there during the screenshare "meeting".

Hey everyone, creator of TeamTail here!
TeamTail is a nights-and-weekends project that I've been working on for the past couple of weeks. It's not 100% production ready yet, but wanted to share 1) in case it is useful to any of you creators, and 2) to get some early stage feedback.
TeamTail is a tool that lets you pipe any command-line output (e.g. cat file | teamtail, tail -F file | teamtail, or even ./run-program | teamtail) and it'll create a secret link for you to share https://teamtail.dev/p/{...}.
This project was inspired by a few other tools that I've seen out there, namely https://seashells.io/ and https://streamhut.io/, with the two "killer" features of TeamTail being
1) End-to-end AES-256 encryption + SSL/TLS communication throughout
2) Inline commenting (think github style commenting) for easy, real-time collaboration.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hopper | Software Engineer (all levels) | Cambridge, MA / Montreal, QC | Full-time | Onsite
Hopper is the smart way to book travel on your phone. Combining petabytes of data and advanced machine learning algorithms, Hopper predicts and analyzes airfare and accommodations to save users money and enable them to travel more often.
Since its launch in 2015, Hopper has become one of the fastest growing travel apps ever with over 30 million installs to date. It is now the most downloaded flights booking app in North America and travelers have booked hundreds of millions of dollars in flights and hotels around the world using Hopper. We recently closed our Series D ($100MM) and are rapidly expanding our team.
You will be directly responsible for many of the innovative features we’ll be working on, whether collaborating with our outstanding design and product team or helping our data science group work on the bleeding-edge to personalize travel for our ever expanding population of members. We're more interested in your willingness and ability to learn than what you currently know, but this is the stack we're currently using:
- Scala
- HBase
- Spark
- Kafka
- Tensorflow
- Swift / Kotlin for our mobile apps
Apply here and mention Hackernews on your application: https://www.hopper.com/careers/
