We hear a lot about what is or isn't a democracy but the reality is that very few countries today would ever be above the bar set. Even Athenian democracy wouldn't, as it was a demos of the male citizens only, supported by a large slave class.

What is more important is: is it working? And if not, why not?

to be fair to Trump, he does respond to corporate lobby - Pichai just got to make a phone call and an EO will be rolling out in short order. This is not because Gogole controls Trump, it is simply that Trump is a nationalist and will defend US companies, he just needs to be reminded to do so

EU regulatory apparatus is maybe only part of the EU which is operates without obsequiousness to the US; on the one hand, this is necessary assertion of sovereignty, on the other you fear for the wider collateral damage which will inevitably ensue. Trump gonna respond to this with an escalation for sure

What is unique about Trump's corruption is that there is a) it is actually innovative and b) there is no end to it. I guess this is what happens when the people choose a reality TY show host to be their democratically elected leader.

what if he takes personal ownership of percentage of Open Ai? Trump kind of thinks of the US Govt as essential his own property right now. Also, what if he doesn't leave? He's a rule breaker, having realised that rules don't apply to him, as they need to be enforced by somebody brave enough to suffer the consequences of doing so

Trump is such an unusual personality, that I struggle to describe him as conventionally corrupt. He has this ability to self delude which I think insulates him from any sense of wrong doing, and so he just carries on. He's now seemingly learnt that the closure / opening of the Strait of Hormuz is effectively a money spigot he can turn on / off whenever he pleases. He's going to leave the Presidency as the richest man on earth

cable catch technique is really impressive - there are now three proven ways to recover orbital class rockets - landing fins, chopstick catch and cable catch. Great to see different techniques - I have a feeling that cable catch is going to be the leading paradigm - seems likely a gentler way to capture the rocket.
