> Unlike the way they are hyped sometimes, as fantastic tools for coding and agentic local work.
They really are fantastic for a lot of use cases and I think most people do not need SOTA. When I run that qwen model in my measly 4070 12 GB for my personal email agent that I build and experiment with, I need privacy more than anything else. It does a great job. Even for coding tasks, given you know how to use them instead of dumping a grand plan, it's great.

I wouldn't consider India. It's been plagued by protectionism and tariffs and won't achieve anything close to China any time soon. The only industry of value for its people which is software services is now crumbling with AI created in US and China.
Edit: probably your point too and I misread

I wonder if this might work for my sickness with 3D apps and games on desktop. Even watching Minecraft is nauseating

It has always been pretty clear to me.
Same medical equipment, infrastructure, education elsewhere in the world is often 30-50 times cheaper. The providers just charge as they want because people will pay their fortune to live, just like lawyers.

Well, isn't it already difficult for the not-rich to add to families? Add to that the uncertainty with income and future. Unless socialism is widely adopted, I am not sure humans can enjoy better lives especially with additional burden of kids. Hell, people can't afford homes now. I don't see a widely agreed upon or convincing positive ending. I already see (read about to be accurate) effects of AI on young graduates. I'd assume people hope for better ending, but would prepare for the worst.

What's the strong case against population dwindling other than supporting aging population? Given the AI armageddon, it just makes sense to reduce the population. If there's less population, we need less production and less workers. Of course, countries have to deal with oldest population for a brief period of time.
