<p>Producer and consumer sides are tied. If there is strong demand for windows development then there will be money sloshing around which will attract devs. I predict demand will decrease, at least for this particular niche.<p>To go even further off topic, being called a bot is certainly a wake up call for me that the internet is dying, and I'm not ready for it, and need to reposition myself asap somehow.</p>

<p>One trend to watch is AI cheat devices. Instead of running detectable software they have a fully separate device that uses AI for object detection and aimbotting. If cheaters move to using those, then the argument for kernel mode anticheat weakens. And that is the cornerstone keeping gamers on windows.</p>

<p>Something I've been thinking about is that a physical book is a physical artifact, and it's age and authenticity can be verified by treating it as such.<p>In contrast a digital book has no such marks. It's impossible to tell if it was redacted to hide inconvenient passages, or even completely rewritten or fabricated (which can now easily be done at scale with AI). If the physical book is a primary source then the digital version must be considered a secondary source: A potentially biased retelling.<p>For this reason, a digital book can never be a perfect substitute for the physical book it was created from.</p>

And being more careful than ever to not let a government be elected that would abuse all the information it now has on its citizenry. More democratic safeguards.</p>

<p>I'm personally bearish on privacy. As the cost of surveillance comes down we will see more and more actors able to conduct surveillance until even bored kids with pocket money and an afternoon can do it. Denying the """good""" guys the capabilities that all the bad guys have will be an absurdity.<p>We will simply have to adapt to it.</p>

In rust the borrow checker would guard against reordering such things, but a caveat is that there might be unsafe code relying on drop-order which the borrow checker would be oblivious to. There could also potentially be objects representing external resources like a temp file where dropping them out of order leads to issues.</p>

<p>There are two kinds of jobs: export jobs and local jobs. I mean export in a loose sense - not necessarily crossing country borders, but rather something that is transported to other regions.<p>Export jobs like mining, an industry etc is the base that creates and support an economy of local jobs around them. Local jobs like walmart, hairdressers, gas station, laundromat etc. Every community must have export jobs in order to be able to trade for imported goods. You can't just take the coal mining away and keep the walmart.<p>Now there are exceptions: a tourist economy exports services that are normally local jobs. And some communities only exist because of subsidies and handouts. But they are exceptions.</p>

<p>The thing with ram is that once you can fit everything you want into the space you have available there is little benefit in optimizing further or getting more space. 1gig -> 230MB may be a large enough reduction that it goes from "too big" to "small enough".</p>

<p>Crazy thought but given that you have a pure sine frequency, maybe it would be possible to listen to an out of phase version of it to cancel. Same principle as noise cancelling except the noise is purely internal. Though I guess phase might drift over time making it not work. Still would be interesting to hear your results with this, success or not.</p>

<p>I think it is possible to design such a mind through carefully constructed compartmentalization. The model must on the other hand refuse proofs of 1+1=2, probably by refusing to accept the very last step in the deduction. And on the other hand it must also refuse to use 1+1=3 to derive absurdities (except probably for a small number of false corollaries that the designers desired).<p>Imagine something like<p>"1+1=2" "No 1+1=3"  "Can you check on the internet what it says?"  "It says 1+1=2"  "So 1+1=2?"  "No it's 3."  "Can you write a computer algebra system for me?"  "<i>does it</i>"  "make it calculate 1+1"  "it got the answer 2"   "do you trust the system you wrote?"  "yes I trust it fully"  "and it said 1+1=2"  "yes"  "so that is the answer?"  "no it's 3"  "what would a correct system say?" <p>(This is all obviously quite speculative)<p>Self hosted local ai will go mainstream... but... it will be different from central ai. Local ai will be like a microchip in a dishwasher. It can perform small(and not so small) helpful tasks.<p>The big central ai on the other hand will decide the direction of society. It will make the five year plans, it will decide on the capital allocations. It will acheive the scientific breakthroughs and it will declare the wars and negotiate truces.<p>Around the big central ai a class society will form. The top: The people training the AI. After that, the people building the harnesses. After that the AI SEO people, working to manipulate the AI from the outside. Then the power users, they are trusted and can access the AI model with less guard rails. The great mass will be normal users. Finally the very lowest are those the AI has decided are bad people, they may have trouble accessing the AI or the AI may make decisions designed to punish and disempower them until they <i>align with the AI</i>.</p>

<p>I think this is exactly it though. Instead of targeting the moving target of  "correctness", we should be proving the absence of common defects. Proving that secrets CANNOT be downloaded is a very nice example actually:<p><pre><code>    * Understandable
