I sometimes wonder what would happen to our other resources if energy was abundant and "free". For example desalination plants running for free could perhaps be used to refill an aquifer.
Of course there are markets and balances in the real world. The idea that energy is always scarce and that we shouldn't produce more than I as an individual need always feels a bit like maintaining scarcity.
often energy storage has a lot of losses in the the conversion. but if you produce 10x of what you need for "free". Would that really matter? I'm sure we will get there at some point.

The correct way to deliver notifications is through push notifications. On mobile platforms it will wake up the device, wake up the app and handle the notification. No matter if your app is backgrounded, completely quit or open. It's actually really cool and efficient.
It's the low quality code from whatsapp and meta that's causing the battery usage doing all sorts of bad patterns like like constant outbound requests. So many apps like telegram don't have the same issues and are also just as responsive.

As long as the water that goes in, doesn’t come out. The inital water requirement is fine. What is problematic in most cases is the warm water containing pollutants is just pumped straight into our local waste water systems or rivers.

> The strange thing is this is happening in multiple companies at the same time. It's like all the CEOs and HR reps met at some golf retreat and decided to follow a script.
I’ve gotten the same feeling. It’s too consistent to be a fluke. I get the feeling its a fashion thats being pushed by VC funds who are all neck deep in nvidia, openai and anthropic stocks. They must have realized they can pump this to their portfolio to inflate all the investments.

For the same reason css still works if you make a typo and javascript super dynamic: its a friendly interface.
Html, css and js got used so much because you could mess around and still get something to work. While other languages that people use to write “serious” applications just screamed at you for not being smart enough to know how to allocate memory correctly.
Html and css is not a competitor to C. Its more like an alternative to file formats like txt or rtf. Meant to be written by hand in a text editor to get styled pages. So easy and forgiving your mom could do it! (And did, just like everyone else in the myspace days)
