I'm in a similar process. I've enjoyed working in tech but it feels for me that it has run its course. We recently started making EDC bags and minimalist laptop backpacks. https://ancientedc.com And while it probably won't generate tech money, it's really nice sitting down at the sewing machine and cranking out a physical product that people really enjoy using.

I live in a small central California town. My wife and I enjoy a local band that plays occasionally at the local pub. I couldn't make it last weekend but my wife went with a friend and I picked her up after at about 10:00pm. Neither of us had anything to drink. Cop lights me up and pulls me over and claims I didn't stop at a stop sign, was weaving on the road and that my license plate light is out. All complete and utter lies. Cop said "Are you willing to take a sobriety test right now?" and I thought about it. My stubborn side wanted to say "hell yes, I'll take the test" but I've heard enough stories about cops fucking people over here that I just calmly said "No." He said "I can haul you in for that.." and I replied "And you'll look really bad in front of a judge if you force it and you find out I'm completely sober. I'll fight it the whole way." I was polite. Gave him my license and registration and cooperated as asked otherwise. He made us sit there on the main street for about 20 minutes while he sat in his car with his spotlight on us and didn't appear to do anything else. Then came back and tossed my license and registration at me and said he was giving me a verbal warning. Fuck these guys. I hear these stories all the time locally and I don't really see how anyone that experiences the petty lies can "back the blue".

I live in a wine region in central Calif where everyone has a tractor. We bought a Kubota, enjoy using it and get a lot of work done with it. We have a neighbor that bought a new John Deere and for about a 3 month period we endured nothing but abuse from him because we didn't buy "American". Then his problems started...

And why did he say that? And what was the end result of him posting that?

You should add context so people know that Kaiser was delaying his treatment, Trump's team got Kaiser in gear so that he could receive it (Trump did indeed help him). Now imagine any other non-famous person with Stage IV cancer trying to get treatment without the help of a president.

I've been daily driving it for months now and really like it. It's a nice introduction to tiling window managers, has a well thought out key mapping and generally looks reasonably nice while getting out of my way as an embedded dev.

I hear this "crime is down" theme a lot. But I see with my own eyes, in my own neighborhood, that the opposite is happening. Other people do as well and that is a big reason why the news media is viewed negatively.

I haven't found Oban difficult to work with and it has the added benefit of ensuring your jobs are run only once. There is also the cron functionality that I find really useful for scheduling.
