definitely. I got ad blitzed the last two days by "wow" YT videos which I admit is why I even ended up clicking through todays "bot news" to this site. It's been uber hyped with marketing strategy for sure, its only coz it was OSS I paid attention but was surprised by the marketing for OSS since that doesnt usually happen.

I still really dont see how solar or wind power the future needs at all. surely nuclear is the only solution longer time. obviously it has to be made safe but why are wasting so much time and money on solar and wind that are demonstably not good for the environments they go into. at scale that is going to be felt because no, actually deserts are not "just empty spaces doing nothing" they have a huge knock on effect when changed either life within them, or how they feed the surrounding non-desert environments. Why is nuclear still the bogeyman when the sun is a nuclear event. cut out the middle man. surely.

I take back my previous comment since I can't now edit it. I was wrong. I think the approach makes sense. There is nothing wrong with getting paid by commericial interests. Its the difficult side of FOSS where finding balance between the two worlds is kind of hard to achieve in a perfect way.

after further consideration, I actually think I am wrong in this case. It's really just looking for fair payment in exchange for work provided to those that are commercial interests or who can afford to pay it. Which is totally fair and my point doesnt apply here.

Yea that is actually more a symptom of post-war generations, so isnt exclusive to OSS. Ask any employer how its going with their new young staff members.
but what I see causing far more problems in the OSS community is greedy patreon gatewallers who poach all they can from the devs, then put it behind a patreon wall and charge money for it. Them and corporate swooping in are a bigger problem than whining on a github issues board.

In 2008 when the GFC every company we worked IT for on contract fired their IT staff first. Two weeks later, we had bonanza period right through into the next year. They realised the hard way that those lowly cheap IT staff were quietly keeping them afloat. We charged a lot to fix their problems they created because their CEO thought IT was a waste of money.
This will prove security in IT coding is necessary, so enjoy watching the drama unfold.
IT security bonanza time. It wont be long.
