As someone who loves coding (uses vim, and has done so for ~10 years),
but also is amazed by AI coding tools and has embraced them recently (e.g. copilot then claude code then codex),
I'm curious, who out there is still not using any of these tools? And if not, why?
I feel it's become as common-place as autocomplete, or intellisense. Though I remember people used to hate those too.
I guess AI is like the modern day intellisense + docs targeted for exactly what you're doing, always
(maybe that + an intern that never sleeps)

not yet, but it is coming. It currently uses the screen capture libraries and video encoder in macos, but I am working on adding Windows equivalents at the moment.

Hey HN!
I made ShotGlass, a Mac app for screenshots, screen recordings, and cinematic demos.
I was tired of jumping between four apps to make one product demo. Screenshots, recordings, annotations, and After Effects for anything cinematic.
I also saw the MacBook Neo commercials (recording playing on a 3D MacBook in a scene) and wondered why no screen recorder just did that.
So ShotGlass does all of it: multi-window capture, annotations, zooms, transitions, and dropping a recording onto a 3D MacBook with a simulated lens.
It's free to try, a one time purchase and everything stays local.
I tried to make it simple to use and, for fun, themed like a glass of whisky. I'm updating it quite a lot, so I'd love your feedback.

What's the GPU VRAM requirements for this thing?
Awesome to have a open model that can compete, but damn it would be so much better if you could run it locally. Otherwise, it's almost so difficult to run (e.g. self host) that it's just way more convenient to pay OpenAI, Claude, etc

I run a few sites and use affiliates to help grow them.
Used rewardful before, but most people blocked cookies, then affiliates never got credited, then they stopped promoting.
Then I switched to Paddle and rewardful didn't even support it anymore.
So I built this. Uses coupon codes instead of cookies. Doesn't need any code changes to your site to start.
Connects to Stripe and Paddle in 15 seconds.
Optional one-line snippet for auto-apply links (no cookie banner). They're GDPR compliant by default.
It's also waffle themed... so you can become a "waffiliate"

Yes, that's exactly right. All your images are processed locally and don't leave your device. They are all processed in the web browser with javascript and your dev tools like you say should show that.

Thanks for sharing! Both the link and the story. As a University student and someone that has here also made a photomosaic app, that is super relatable.
That's good to know about the pricing. It's free for now. Honestly didn't expect this level of interest (there's 307 people on the site right now according to analytics).
With that interest, I may add some plans - potentially for the commercial use in particular
