I was at a retreat once and we had a dream session. There was little talk about what dreams are, how they function, etc.., but we shared our dreams in the group because the thing we would convey would be something that only we could convey. No one else could share our dreams, or the nuances, or the meanings, or whatever. I think of this every time someone in my family shares/describes their dreams.

Yeah, the screen looks the same, I think the Utah dairy had a newer model.

They also mentioned that there were only 3 dairy farms in the state with any kind of automated milking machines.

I visited a dairy in Utah a couple of summers ago. 130 cows, 3 employees.

It's a fully automated facility, using equipment from Germany. The cows enter a stall, the machine milks them, gives them a treat, they move on. Employees get a text if a cow hasn't milked itself in a while... usually a tap on their shoulder is enough to get them to walk over to the machine.

Even yet, the person giving the tour said they don't make enough money selling the milk to sustain the operation. They also make high-end cheeses on-prem, and that's what keeps them in the black.

Personally, I don’t mind an ad or two. It’s not ads, per se, that have me using an ad blocker... it’s the “bad UI impact of tons of ads and pop-ups” that keep me in ad block mode. When a site wants me to turn off the ad blocker and it doesn’t look insane, I’m happy to comply. Same with DDG.

I agree and disagree, and disagree because in the world we live in, we read more words than ever, but reading books -- things that people craft over time, sometimes with facts and references, and that are stable enough elements in the world that we can have long, thoughtful, referenced reviews and discussions about -- probably less so than in the past.

We don't "review" and discuss blog posts for years on end, the way you can read and discuss books, and books from other countries, in other languages, from previous centuries.

I joke that most parties devolve into a discussion about "what have you watched lately?" and where that discussion used to include movies and films, people at parties mostly talk about TV shows.

So books, for those who are still fitting them into their lifestyle, even after work and family and internet, are slightly more rarefied than they used to be. Moreso than we probably need.

I once owned 1% of a company that was 22 minutes away from its IPO and then it got pulled. Then we merged with a Big Brand Name company and there were years and years of lawsuits.

The Good Mythical Morning show often pits store brands against the name brand originals.. results vary a lot, but Kroger, for instance, tends to rank higher (for them) then Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s brand knock-offs.

Your position is that everyone should have generators instead of having infrastructure that doesn't require everyone to have generators?

Some people have generators no matter what, but it seems a stretch to think you can't rely on your energy infrastructure a bit more than that.

That's true. And I unsubscribe from a lot. And I filter the rest. But I scan and review and like just enough content to stay engaged. But I'm moving closer and closer to unsubscribing from all of them.

I spend my day on a Macbook Air and a MS Surface, and a Dell. The Dell keyboard is squishy and horrible to type on. I ordered a Logitech mechanical keyboard but it came broken, so I returned it.. and didn't get a chance to try it out.

Anyone have a recommendation for a low-profile, relatively quiet mechanical keyboard that will not feel disruptive to my Mac & Surface keyboard habits? Something akin to those, but mechanical, would be nice.

EDIT: OK, I'll edit my request for a recommendation: best keyboard of any kind if you're spending your day on Macbook and Surface keyboards.

99% of my inboxes are emails from non-humans. I'm ready to stream them like RSS or Twitter.. and catch the ones I care about.
