Is this a common issue? I deleted mine around the same time. I recently moved to a small town where many of the restaurants and businesses use Facebook which kind of forced me back on. When I tried creating a new one the same thing happened, and there was no way of reversing this decision.

It's been said before but I do believe that most people generally believe the 'best era' was the time around when they started watching - likely high school or around then.
I've watched for 20 years, every era is the same and it's exactly as you describe. A couple decent skits and many that don't hit. The one difference I've found lately is many of the sketches are for a terminally online generation - Bowen Yang in particular leading the charge. As someone with no social media, those sketches go over my head but I can't really hate on it, as I just recognize that I'm getting old haha.

Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant are all generally good at those things but honestly not much else. I use my Google Home every day for timers and to turn on/off lights. I don't think any of them will ever be the helpful AI that they were initially promoted as, though.

I would happily pay for a dumb TV, if they existed. They don't seem to anymore.
I have a Samsung Q-series TV now and tried using the smart TV apps for a while, but many were buggy and often had audio/video desync issues. I might blame part of that on the soundbar, but I gave up and got an Apple TV 4K and haven't had any issues at all.

Not really. You can do that for web, or email, or maps, but for the most part - and especially with third party apps for things like Reddit, or Twitter - you're forced into opening links in Safari. You MAY be given the option to open the link in an app once opening in Safari but in my experience it doesn't always work.
It's fundamentally a worse experience than it is on Android, in every way.

Also in DC. The jobs are coming back but the work is still remote. My office has moved to hybrid schedule of 3 days in office (tues-thurs) and remote Mon, Fri. I know many other offices that are still remote however, and only just now starting to discuss RTO procedures.
Not to mention "core hours" becoming a thing even on in-person days for many offices meaning it's no longer as much of a thing to get out of the office for lunch at noon if you're only there until 3 or 4.

Definitely true about most subs, but not all. Some, such as /r/askhistorians, are very strict about low effort posts so what you end up seeing (amongst a handful of deleted replies) are very well resourced to whatever the subject of the thread is. Of course, this requires an engaged moderating team which not all subs have. That being said, it still doesn't quite match the magic of stumbleupon and clicking a link to be shown a page matching your interests from obscure corner of the web.
To be honest, I don't know why a similar app or extension hasn't come up to replace what Stumble did. Surely there's advertising potential there (1 ad per every X clicks) and even a subscription option (remove ads or access to unlimited interest categories for $x dollars).

I wish Stumble Upon still existed just so I could find the weird corners of the web again. This site and Reddit sort of fill that but also don't quite fit it at all.

There were a few points in the doc where some of the Beatles would come in saying "I was thinking about this song last night while watching TV" and they'd hum it out or play some of the notes in their head on the piano. We saw Paul mess around with the guitar in real time as he slowly put together the chords for Get Back. Moments like this, to me, feel like times where that natural talent is necessary.

Looking at the chart toward the top of the article, I couldn't help but get a similar feeling. A huge spike of self employed workers in the early 2000's that preceded the crash and Great Recession. I'd be curious to see statistics on what these self employed workers were doing in 2004-2007, but I assume many of them got into the idea of flipping houses?
Either way, I worry that in a few years time we'll see a market correction of all these self employed workers and I wonder what its impact will be. Will they just go back to corporate life? Will it even be that easy to do so?

The US govt is certainly still involved in propaganda. For example, NASA helped with The Martian.[1] DoD released a game, America's Army, about 20 years ago with a total budget of $32 million over 8 years or so.[2] Also, Pentagon pays about $10-15 million annually just for the various pro-military messaging we see at sports events (salute to veterans, etc).[3] These are just some examples, but there are plenty more.
[1]. https://www.popsci.com/why-nasa-helped-ridley-scott-create-m...
[2]. https://www.wired.com/2009/12/americas-army-budget
[3]. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2015/11/04...

The same way people underestimate their caloric intake, I think unfortunately a lot of fitness apps and equipment overestimate calories burned. A recent 1 hr peloton class I did said said I burned a little over 1,200 calories. It was nearly 300 more than my Whoop band said I lost. I think both numbers were higher than what I actually did.
