I would have bought the 13 mini except at the time the 13 Pro's 3x camera, 120hz and better battery was notable.
Now I kind of dread what will be available when it's time to finally upgrade this year. Am sure they could make a new mini that didn't seem as compromised, but now they think the size is non-viable.
Bring back when small was not a synonym for cheaper.

There’s a pretty fundamental difference between consoles and smartphones.
Including that most consoles are sold at a loss or close to it vs. allegedly being an open platform like iOS and android.
Epic being such an important partner to all gaming companies also gives them more skin in the game there.

As an Apple user and web dev, I like some of their restrictions because I prefer incentive to build native apps for things I do all the time. They’re usually showing a lot more polish and integration.
Every time Twitter or Instagram bring up their custom share sheets I get super annoyed it’s not the default. PWA’s can probably get a lot of that, but a ton of web UX is arbitrary, unique, and more likely to feel janky in ways.
Even for well done web apps, like Notion, it stands out like a sore thumb when parts of the editor don’t work like normal Mac input controls.
I think PWA’s will have a lot of uses, but I don’t want them to take over either or Google get a browser monopoly. It’s bad enough how many devs don’t use anything but Chrome when testing. The web is what it is because it is not beholden to one company like the IE6 days

No, for decades DHH was almost obnoxiously pretty far left.
That he is now being labeled a nazi for saying we went too far with masks and that crypto might have a use after all because the ability for government to cut off all your money with no recourse is dangerous for society… it’s absurd and pretty much exactly what he often complains about now

Whether DHH is a dick (he is) or at times a diva, he’s literally none of the things this Twitter account is trying to label him as.
To call him far right is ludicrous, and pretty much the exact absurdity he’s often writing about in regards to people being unable to handle any differences of opinion anymore.
The leap to “you disagree? Nazi!” is why we all need to quit Twitter

I don't see how moving from Boston to NYC or SF solves anything you're referring to. Boston is younger than both and while expensive to live still cheaper.
NYC is full of tinder box apartments. The dating pool in SF is way more lopsided than the east coast. Uber made the subway thing less relevant (though as someone who moved here and got older, the late hours also mean less to me now than earlier)
Also MA is allegedly top ranked for millennials https://boston.cbslocal.com/2019/04/09/best-states-millennia...
Homes are expensive in MA but not cheaper in either SF or NY.
Boston also one of three US cities outside SV expected to be top 10 globally in tech for the foreseeable future https://boston.curbed.com/2019/2/26/18240310/boston-technolo...
As for families, I don't see how either NY or CA is better off for education.
There's plenty of reasons to leave Boston for either of those cities, but the ones you cite really don't make a whole lot of sense.

The alleged "socialist" success stories tend to have strong labor laws, but also much less business regulation and be much more free market than the typical American has been led to believe.
Sweden for example has no minimum wage and fully voucher-ized education which are anathema to the US left.
So I'd disagree there aren't things holding students in the US back, they just hold the entire DNC captive.
Sweden also has a flat tax. They depend on high income tax across the board unlike the US, but also have higher institutional trust/social cohesion (easier with a low pop) and frankly better governance overall.
Culture matters. It's why southern Europe is not like northern.
There's no quick fix that can be cherry picked to make the US like Nordic nations.
