At least 150k on my relatively small FastAPI project, but hit my session limit. Continuing in a few hours.

Nobody at OpenAI is closely monitoring token usage or egress, eh? Alright. They should potentially fire a whole team of engineers if that's the case. I monitor egress from VMs that don't have shit on them.

I truly don't understand why people think LLMs eliminate the need for mastery, or that they limit thinking. I have a lot more time to think when I use a good harness. It handles the pointless toil and I handle the thinking. I'm just thinking about different things. Instead of trying to coax the correct answers from a search engine, the LLM is doing that for me and parsing the correct output, so I'm not spending hours upon hours wading through detritus. While it's doing that, I'm using that time to think more about the problems I'm solving, the UX, etc.
I'm not sure what to tell you if you think the LLM solves for novel thinking.

Imagine saying this about a graphing calculator, because that is essentially what the LLM is for knowledge work. You can either be dumb and spell 8008135 or you can get an education and make it sing. They definitely want us dependent on their products for life, because that's what capitalism is, but dumb kids won't be the profitable ones.

Instinct. I think it drives UX. When I am designing an interface, I'm not just parroting something I've seen before. I am calling upon the breadth of my human existence, my professional experience, my empathy, to think about how another human will be using the applications that I create. It paints everything I touch.
LLM will never be able to do that. It can clone things that humans have created in the past but it can't create novel solutions that a human will enjoy without a human at the wheel iterating through prompts until it's great. AGI doesn't mean 'good enough' to me. It means better.

I cite it because we're barely scratching the surface of our own world, which is one of a potentially infinite number of worlds that is encapsulated by the word "everything."
Why would we map the seafloor is an insane question that immediately invalidates all other opinions that you may have, unfortunately. The human embodiment of that meme with the pickaxe guy walking away from a diamond strike if only he had swung once more.
It's so hubristic to assume that our generation is the one that will discover the answers to everything.
