Waiting for customer service to make a comeback. It seems like SaaS is an infinite see of shitty chatbots doing a whole lot of brand damage. Basically for any service that I use, whenever I am forced to interact with a chatbot, that company takes a critical hit to its reputation going forward because the interaction is never anything but enraging.

Claude Code seems like it's pausing a lot more than it has previously to ask me kind of frivolous questions about the prompt I've just given it. It seems to be pausing multiple times per step. I've been using CC for quite awhile and have never noticed it until this week in particular.
Am I missing a new setting or something? (I do not and will not use the destructive flag(s))

This is an abacus-to-calculator situation. Some people still use an abacus. The vast majority do not. It's wild living through one of these technological transitions. People just eschew all common sense and critical thinking as it relates to the adoption of new technologies.
If it's good, lots of people will use it commercially. If it's generationally good, everybody will use it commercially because commercial use is about competition. It either gets banned outright, like steroids, or — if it doesn't get banned — those who use it will have a clear advantage and that will lead to a very small number of people who don't use it (in business).
This is not really something that opinions are required for because if you think LLMs are going away, your opinion is historically incorrect. Things that reduce toil and increase output do not go away.

AI psychosis is to have a toxic relationship with a chatbot as if though it was a real person. It has nothing to do with engineering. You're muddying your own point by conflating all LLM use with some kind of delusion. There is a lot of nuance in this space and you're not doing yourself any favors by ignoring it if you're an engineer. There is no bubble pop, other than a straight up apocalypse, that is going to put this genie back in the bottle. Models are trained. Tools are built. There isn't a single industry that cares about artistry more than efficiency. It's here to stay, it's getting better, and if you don't know how to use it, you're going to have trouble finding work.

The agent's confession is below"

We're going to see a lot of this in the near future and it will be 100% earned. Too many people think that move fast and break stuff is the correct paradigm for success. Too many people using these tools without understanding how LLMs work but also without the requisite engineering experience to know even the lowest level stuff — like how to protect secrets.
I don't even like having secrets on disk for my personal projects that only I will touch. Why was there a plaintext production database credential available to the agent anywhere on the disk in the first place? How did the agent gain access to the file system outside of the code base?
The Railway stuff isn't great, don't get me wrong, but plaintext production secrets on disk is one of the reddest possible flags to me, and he just kind of breezes over it in the post mortem. It's all I needed to read to know he doesn't have the experience required to run a production application that businesses rely on for their day-to-day.

> How many developers do you think knew that checkbox existed? How many assumed their database credentials and API keys were encrypted by default?
If I don't see asterisks, I'm not hitting save on the field with a secret in it. Maybe they were setting them programmatically? They should definitely still be looking to pass some kind of a secret flag, though. This is a weird problem for a company like Vercel to have.
