on that theme it reminds my of the Pico-8 community (although technically it is an engine but you dont need to do engine programming even for generating music!!)
compiled a personal webpage to play with mobile controls and a javascript engine to play the pico-8 games and i love the celeste port on that!
https://rohitjha.com/labs/flynns-arcade

“Also I have no idea why the average score was increased in 2022. A lot of new users?”
Possibly. Post covid many companies laid off people and that could have led to more time and interaction with HN and many more new builders and solopreneurs joining the community

Github repo: https://github.com/jharohit/better-gmail-tabs
Given how we use widescreen aspect ratios today, a tab interface has been significantly more faster to separate out emails quickly!
~~~~~
Key Features:
- Custom Tabs: Create tabs for any Gmail label or search query.
- Seamless Integration: Tabs appear directly in the Gmail interface for quick access.
- Customization: Rename tabs and change their text/background colors to organize your workflow visually.
- Automatic Coloring: New tabs are automatically assigned unique, complementary color combinations (random background with high-contrast text) so you don't have to manually pick colors every time.
- Context Menu: Right-click any tab to rename, recolor, or delete it.
Admin Panel: Click the settings gear icon to manage all your tabs in one place.
- Smart Navigation: Automatically detects if you are viewing a label or a search result when creating a tab.
- Export & Import: Backup your tab configurations or share them across devices using JSON files.
~~~~~~~~~
I was using a similar one called Gmail Tabs by CloudHQ but they charge now $2 per month (How dare they! But honestly shoutout to them for doing it first \m/).
So like all geeks I used Gemini 3.0 AI Vibe Code to redo it in ~4 hours (initial build) and launched on Google Chrome Store! Also added tons of features like local backup/restore with json, automated tab colors, ultrafast response due to localized css and no remote load, etc - things I wished the CloudHQ guys had!
If you get a lot of emails like me, please try it and let me know how it is. OR any features you want - project is open source so you can add yourself! I will try to merge back once every two weeks and launch on webstore.
OR let me know if you need anything on https://x.com/@jharohit
P.S. I got excited to do this also because I did another extension last year to just click "save" in Google AIStudio (when they didn't automatically save AIStudio chats!!). 4.5 Star Rating, 2.3k installs, 8k page views, 1.7k Weekly Active Users (as of Dec 2025). They have since fixed this but somehow I still have active users..

love it. been using for personal projects.
some things that still need to be done before v1 launch:
- easy data migration in and out (right now is a pain if its large volume of data from other DB eg firebase or sqlite!)
- API/programmatic setup of tables (right now its only via UI making it hard to setup large complex tables with variable permissions)
- Multi-instance: easiest is to have another pocketbase in "mirror" mode that it updates once a day or whatever with primary (primary > secondary method like in mongo is a great mechanism, with some kind of voting for primary)

I made a self-hosted, single-HTML-file timezone wall for tracking timezone (working hours) for my global team.
You can grab the file here: https://github.com/jharohit/team-timezone-wall#
I got tired of constantly googling "what time is it in [city]?" to schedule meetings with my remote team. I wanted a simple, at-a-glance view of everyone's local time, but I didn't want yet another cloud service or a heavy app for something so simple.
So, I built Team Timezone Wall with Cursor. Honestly its no feat of engineering or super complicated but solves once specific problem and has been my daily use tool for months now. Quite sticky!
For the self-hosting and privacy-minded folks here, the best part is its simplicity:
- It's a single index.html file. No dependencies, no build steps, no external scripts.
- Zero tracking and completely server-less. It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Infinitely portable. You can host it yourself on any static web server, use it with file:///, or just pass the file around.
It's a small tool, but it solves a real headache for me without compromising on privacy or simplicity.
