Regarding number two, that's what I designed featureflip to handle. It tracks dead flags and will submit a pull request to your repository to remove it for you. That's always been a big pain point of mine with launch darkly.

There are a number of providers that provide flat-rate or near flat-rate pricing in this space. I'll go ahead and recommend featureflip.io as one such example. ConfigCat is another common one.
I am affiliated with featureflip but it does a ton of the same things for a sane price.

To be fair, the issue is probably not going to be as evident downtown. Go over to the east side in old fourth ward or inman park and I think you'd have come to a different conclusion.

Honestly I've loved mine, but its definitely not for everyone. The standard software is pretty lacking, and the cloud features are meh. If you're willing to apply the DDVK patches, and an additional launcher it becomes a joy to use. Koreader for reading, regular software for writing is a joy. Oxide is a great launcher for easily switching apps. You can setup syncthing via ssh. The hardware is great, and having ssh access was what sold me on it.

Different chips have different limits. I used to do some of this competitively back in the day. Different architectures can't get as high max frequencies, some respond differently under the extreme cold. These records are typically done using liquid nitrogen or phase change cooling and a lot of chips will freeze up below a certain temperature. Then its also a toss up between different individual cpus of the same model. It's a bit of a crapshoot.
