All thoughts and opinions about conda aside, it’s the only sane way (on several platforms) to install gdalbins + gdal-python-bindings.

I don’t mind conda. It has a lot of caveats and weird quirks

I have written several rust/python apis now and I think what you’re feeling is the result of the api being designed for Python as well as being primarily tested in Python.

No matter the target, I test rust things using python. idk. Food for thought.

9 months ago I wrote a data pipeline to clip the ttp maps to their “neet line”. Pretty fun project. This was so our mapping software would allow users to toggle visibility of different legends or change the opacity of different legends.

I have used rclone for several years now and it works so good. I use it in place of rsync often too. It’s great for file moving on local file systems too.

Hahahaha. A dev I work with who has been using eMacs for 30+ years is well known at my company for having eMacs sessions open for 6+ months at a time.
