> Why would you just link it without a comment?
I would imagine they linked it because it's a great read and they figured others would be interested. ACX is extremely well known around here, I'm surprised you're unfamiliar.
Scott runs creative writing contests for his readers, this was one of the finalists. I think you're reading far more seriously into a writing exercise than necessary, which I'd imagine is why you were left bothered by it.

Ah you're totally right! That's S05E10; I adore that show so I'm peeved I'd forgotten.
Agree on the Nostr point. Apparently it stands for "Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays" - sort of cute.

It’s kinda interesting seeing what, IIRC, was originally a subreddit name which spawned from an AskReddit thread, is now a common marketing phrase in the tech world.
Similar to the sub itself, it’s now just shorthand for “describe using the first principles the expected audience should understand.”
I imagine a lot of people in the industry also fondly remember the 2010s reddit experience.

I think it’s unlikely they made that typo deliberately. Similarly, I don’t think you were intentional in misspelling miscapitalization, I figured it was an honest mistake.
Is this deliberate miscapitalization thing a behavior you often encounter?

> It will hopefully be eventually viewed in the distant future with such disdain and repugnance as cannibalism or consuming pets or exotic animals
Hm, I fundamentally disagree and I sincerely hope there will ever be a time when meat consumption is viewed as equivalent to cannibalism. That sounds like a society I wouldn’t want to be a part of.
I’m surprised you’d come to such a drastic conclusion. I have nothing but respect for your right to eat the diet you choose, but it’s a shame that isn’t something you’re willing to extend to others.

Sam was a pretty awesome guy. There’s a real sincerity and earnestness to early Simpsons which came from the vision you’re describing.
He left the show after only 4 seasons, but I like to think his influence on the writing was a big contributor to the shows golden years.

> The demonstration builds on Dryxio’s earlier mod that ports GTA III and GTA: Vice City into GTA: San Andreas. That version was released in February 2026 and runs each game as an independent engine inside the San Andreas process
> with both games sharing the same Direct3D device. GTA III renders directly into the television’s live GPU texture.
That's the basic plumbing, for anyone curious. Cool project, game modders are awesome.

I think a bit of the aggressive denialism comes from sour grapes that American society’s best hope for UBI came from capitalists in tech instead of progressives in policy.
UBI used to be a bit of a funny reddit pipe dream. Now it’s a serious long term hypothetical being trialed in the short term and that’s solely as a result of AI progress.
When that result undermines the tenet that capitalism is the root of human suffering, it’s simplest to just reject the result wholesale.

I think when you're hoping to get hired for a professional role, it's worth taking 30s to proof-read your post.
Respectfully, if I received a cover letter with the same sort of prose and grammar I wouldn't be considering the candidate. How you communicate online says a lot about how you might behave in the workplace.
Your project seems interesting but it's pretty hard to understand what it does.

A minute ago I had an HTML doc I wanted to share with a PM. It was a Claude prepared demo of a hypothetical feature. Lots of screenshots.
I ended up just embedding them directly in the HTML as base64 and sending him a 15mb file, but hypothetically this would have been a nice solution instead.

I didn’t realize this!
I’d love to see an opinion poll on the topic, I imagine people’s opinions are going to change depending on the implementation.
If the pitch is “you won’t even notice it unless you’re drunk” then I’d imagine you’re right, and maybe people are more receptive than I thought.

Governments have a monopoly on violence, companies generally do not.
This fact alone makes the comparison you’re trying to make pretty silly. You have far, far more to fear from the country from which you’re a citizen than the company for which you’re a customer.
Read more history.

> It's totally plausible to me that this kind of nudge will save a lot of lives.
I think an in-car breathalyzer which gates the ignition would also save a lot of lives.
Most people agree that kind of manufactured paternalism is an overreach and would be against its introduction. Other people say the same about the diverted driving detector, and I imagine others said the same about the seatbelt sensor.
The intersection of personal freedom and personal safety is an interesting topic, I don't think there's a right answer and it's ultimately pretty subjective.
