<p>My first computer was an IBM 5150 clone that my grandparents setup in our living room. That was my gateway into computers. I was fortunate to find out about the C64 years later and jump into basic programming.<p>I still have an original C64 on my shelf beside me. Think I'm going to hook it up and play some games in honor of its 44th birthday.</p>

<p>SynthID or text watermarking are being looked at the wrong way if you are calling it a joke. Like the article says they are open about the limitations. It was not meant to be a universal "this is AI generated" detector.<p>It could be really useful for preventing synthetic data from accidentally contaminating your real datasets down the line. It's not perfect, but it's a start.</p>

<p>Interesting idea. I can see synthetic survey data or user testing being useful if it can represent regional differences that correlate with personas or demographic characteristics for that area.</p>
