> Why would bots "overwhelm" a site is another discussion — I find it really hard to create a website that would be "overwhelmed" by traffic these days, computers are stupidly fast.
are the cloudflare walls really about reducing load? I thought it's because bots are not profitable. They don't click on ads, don't buy, etc.

> A few places where we still help, even after iOS 27 ships:
> Google Wallet. Create a Pass is iPhone-only. Roughly half of the wallet-using world is on Android, and our generator builds Google Wallet passes from the same form.
From the blog

Tbf the point of the post is the "even when unused" part. A memory store is still a store.

> I don't know that I buy that it's "planned obsolescence".
I'm responding to this. It might be worth it for your wife. But if for a lot of people, paying $100 to revive a 6 year old phone is a bad deal, then it's planned obsolescence

> In short, I think Apple has made a good decision here for short term reasons, but I don’t think it’s a short-term decision: I strongly suspect that Apple, whether it has admitted it to itself or not, has just committed itself to depending on 3rd-parties for AI for the long run.
I'm not so sure it's smart to rely on others for such a major paradigm shift
