Even loading a command prompt or the calculator takes more than 3 seconds on Windows 11 so maybe they've just lowered the bar so much it passes internal testing.

They also ban many types of apps so they can't even claim it's a free market that they don't want to/can't control.

Why would they go down? Once all the existing workforce is deskilled or retired there's no going back so they can jack the service price up. If it was an open platform you might have competitors spring up as a relief valve to that but the space is so regulated I don't think there's any room for that kind of platform.

My state has a program where they give you big rebates but only if you use some one on their list of approved installers and since there aren't many installers it creates a big backlog. Homeowners who could install them themselves miss out on the rebate.

Like Uber drivers' using their girlfriends' ID verification because they have a criminal record, you can also just cut in some random guy to borrow his ID for another chance. There should be plenty of dudes available willing to sell an ID verification for cheap in poorer countries but there's also plenty in wealthy countries because very few anywhere were ever going to have a Google developer account in the first place.

AMD was a pretty stripped down company at that point. They'd bet it all on Zen so when it got a foothold it made sense to double down on it until they could recover.

The thing about being broke is you may know about good opportunities but not have the resources to actually make use of them.

The main purpose is to identify any nascent organization of political opposition to the status quo so it can be destroyed in its infancy with a minimum amount of resources. It will be used to solve some crimes too but solving crimes still involves a lot of manpower (expensive) and if they solved crime people would be less supportive of expanding surveillance powers even further so you don't really want to do a great job at that.

Until they start installing 5G modems in the things anyway. Or put a time bomb in the OS so the TV starts shutting down if it hasn't been connected to the internet after a week.

This is good advice but I find they can build a nest quite fast once they get going. I've found a golf ball sized nest built onto the inside of a garage door that I'd only opened that morning.

I once saw a video of a crazy dude take care of a wasp nest by putting a plastic grocery bag over it and detaching the nest in one smooth motion, then tying it shut and throwing it in the trash. He didn't get stung because the nest was tied up before the wasps even knew they were under attack.

I have good luck with low nests just buying a can of wasp spray (the ones that foam and have a claimed 30ft range, although somewhat less in practice) and soaking down the nest at dust. I usually put on some extra clothing and make a run for it but I haven't been chased. The can only cost like $15.

What I don't have good luck with is the nests built high up since I'm afraid of heights

I remember hearing Google early in it's history had some sort of emergency back up codes that they encased in concrete to prevent them becoming a casual part of the process and they needed a jack hammer and a couple hours when the supposedly impossible happened after only a couple years.

At least I can probably make a throwaway discord account, at worst with a phone number verification. With facebook they demand selfie video of your head, maybe your driver's license probably also your phone number. And maybe they just ban the account after all that anyway.

I actually think that the used market for EVs just is going to have more apartment dwellers (who lack home charging infrastructure) and people who only have access to one car (and thus more strongly prefer something that can easily do long trips without much planning). New EVs are new cars which are expensive as hell and primarily going to be purchased by well off people that have houses. And as you said, these people probably aren't getting much work done at the dealership even if we assume the dealership services EVs.

I've noticed in discussions about EVs a lot of people feel range anxiety if overblown, which is probably true. But the "I have nowhere to charge it at night because I don't own a house" problem is usually just ignored even though it seems like a much bigger problem to me.

Even 20 years ago after I got out of college the advice to "buy a couple year old Honda Civic for cheap" had stopped working because everyone knew those cars were solid so the lightly used ones already barely cost less than new and the new ones often had cheap financing deals.
