Wealth continues to concentrate upwards, and if you can’t easily find information on your own, I’d be happy to provide sources that show that social mobility is low, and a good predictor of your class is that of your parents. Please don’t set up this straw man. There’s nothing wrong with leaving things to your kids, but maybe you don’t need $50 billion to be distributed to three or four individuals.

People tend to think that your beliefs drive your actions. So if someone claims to believe one thing, but acts in accordance with other beliefs, what are you going to assume about their beliefs? If I talk about believing in family values but make it impossible for gay people to get married, do I really believe in family values? Or was I just lying/using a dog whistle?

I don’t mean this judgmentally, but how much water do you use? The bulk of residential water use tends to be for landscaping, in particular watering lawns. When my city raised rates for excess water usage, all of the homeowners complained, even though they require vastly more water infrastructure and end up using a lot more water for their lawns.

There’s also only so much you can realistically do to keep you and/or a child safe in a car accident. Cars are just dangerous, and although safety has improved, slamming into anything at 60+ mi/h can only be made so safe. Combine a need for control with the anxiety of being a parent, and it’s no wonder car seat marketing works so well. After a certain point, though, some things are out of your control, and people should take solace in realizing that they can only realistically do so much to keep their kids safe. (This applies to everything outside of your country, by the way.)
