> Note that maintainability and code quality aren't synonymous, code quality is just a means to an end, and that end is maintainability.
Many orgs are quickly moving to a world where code quality and maintainability are not a priority, at all. If claude is just going to write the code, does it matter "maintainable" or "quality" it is? No. It just matters if it works, and if its fast, is how the perspective goes.

I would also add that Cursor's "Debug" harness is incredible. Hit "Tab" in the AI editor to Tab through the options (Plan, Multitask, Ask, etc.)
If you do any kind of on-device work, it will spin up a local HTTP log server, and pipe logs from your real device (phone, hardware, etc.) to the server and do realtime debugging.
Claude will mostly guess, have you copy + paste logs, etc.

???
OBVIOUSLY if you absolutely HAVE to spend money because your life depends on it (ex: hot water) then you're going to be incentivized to spend it sooner rather than later in an inflationary market.
I'm referring to discretionary spending. Eating out. Buying a new laptop. Traveling. Etc.
This statement: "it pushes people to get rid of currency by any means they have available." is just flat out wrong. If you're draining your bank accounts on discretionary purchases right now, that's your mistake.
I would include retiring before you absolutely have to as "discretionary". Now is not the time to make a decision like that, when the alternative is a smarter financial decision (work, save, invest in assets that aren't devaluing at the same rate as currency).

> Inflation does incentivize spending, yes.
All inflation incentivizes is finding an asset class that isn't devaluing. If that is what you mean by "spending" then we align. But does inflation incentivize spending money on depreciating assets? Only for fools.

This actually makes 0 sense. Like, do you even understand what you're saying? The value of your savings is decreasing at a faster rate than ever before, so its a good time to stop saving and spend it?
The stock market increasing is not the same thing as inflation. What you're saying makes sense only if you are referring to stock market valuation... strictly retiring because inflation is high makes no sense.

Yes, the biomedical world needs to go through the same boom that tech went through in the last 20 years.
The problem is accessibility. Tech grew largely because of how accessible the technology is. Biomedical research is still very difficult to get into, and as a result seriously curtails the potential progress we as a society could make.
I don't know what the solution is but there's got to be an easier way to tinker, test, explore, and play around with biomedical things (cells, viruses, etc.).
Ideally it would be a purely software world where we replicate everything down to the DNA level so that you can test and play around with potential solutions...

Are you a software developer?
I think this issue gets more difficult for software developers. AI is especially good at software development.
You have to make a very strong business case to NOT be using AI. I hate it, but its the reality and the world we live in. Adopt, or be left behind.

Wait, you're upset because they used AI to answer a question they weren't expecting, and couldn't answer? Yet, you used AI as part of your upfront research?
What would you have preferred? They could have just said, "I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to that, please let me get back to you" but instead they tried to get an answer for you.
I'm not sure what the problem is?
