ONCE is a platform for installing and managing Docker-based web applications. Its goal is to make self-hosting applications as simple as possible.
As well as simplifying the initial setup, ONCE also provides automatic updates, backups, and system information. It has a TUI interface with a dashboard for monitoring and operating your applications, as well as CLI commands for common operations should you (or your AI agent) prefer that.
ONCE runs on Linux and macOS, and can be used to run applications on a variety of hardware: a physical server, a cloud VPS, a Raspberry Pi, or your laptop, are all suitable.

Same here. I adapted the file system to honor user quota, and changed the kernel to support priority process scheduling. We also needed to implemented a change in the memory management part... that ironically I cannot remember anymore.

Here's another approach not mentioned: have an accountability partner. Promise that person something specific to be done, with a delivery date.
My observation: a promise I made to someone else is harder to break than a promise I made to myself.

My approach for finishing projects: team up with a Finisher. I found one at work, and we became good friends along the way.
I'm a typical Starter, and all of the side projects we've been working on together were my idea. All of the projects that we completed and released were solely because of his endurance, discipline and focus. And his constant reminders to not start a new project before the current one was done.

And having a better view on the competition in the neighboring lanes (just like in track running). There's even some applied psychology here, that competing swimmers 'push' each other to higher speeds because they can see each other more clearly (and 'feel' the push from someone just lagging).
Putting the faster qualifiers in the middle lanes is also a better view for the spectators on both sides of the pool.

Thanks for that book, and congratulations on the second edition. I'm a backer (via Kickstarter - the first project that I supported IIRC) of the original version, and I greatly enjoyed reading that and tinkering with the algorithms.
I hope this version goes as well as the first edition! You deserve that.

> I'm excluding that one book that was written by another author after Douglas Adams' passing.
If this is _A Salmon of Doubt_, I can strongly recommend that book. It's a collection of the things they found on his computer (with permission to publish it). It's a great and varied set of DNA's writing. I really enjoyed reading it.

> every pill would look the same and branding/image are a huge part of pharmaceuticals.
Companies could work with different color palettes though, based on the corporate or product branding.
By smart placement of some colored dots, you could even show a logo surrounded by a random pattern.

For some pills, detecting counterfeits doesn’t make sense indeed.
But, there are really expensive pills out there for which it might do. Look up Zokinvy or Zolensma.
BTW, you’ll like want the fake detection to be possible _before_ tasting it. And because of the often awful taste, people tend to swallow pills as quickly as possible.

It’s not about branding. It’s about a way to distinguish between (expensive but) authentic manufacturer-supplied pills and fake/cheap knock-offs. Before this ‘invention’ the difference was almost impossible to check.
There are really, really, outrageously expensive pills — to the effect of $ 20K per capsule — that makes fake-detection a viable goal. Look up Zokinvy or Zolensma.
