My thinking would be that because the anticheat is closed source, it makes it a trust exercise in the developer where you've allowed them root access to your machine.
I'd also think outside of the developer's motives, and into any potential vulnerabilities that could use the anticheat as a privilege escalation point or the anticheat itself being given a bad / malicious update.

I don't think that will be the case sadly, just because the majority of gamers don't actually know or care about software having root or kernel level access. In a world where Linux becomes mainstream, AAA games will aim for those users, not hobbyists and enthusiasts like us.

Coming from 10 years of Linux to macOS, Apple deserves praise for this point too.
I don't use Apple Intelligence, Safari, or Siri on my Mac, and I'm extremely happy to report that Apple does not nag me to use these features at all. THANK YOU APPLE.
Windows would open Edge for random reasons instead of my preferred browser to nudge me to use it, Cortana was a constant reminder in W10 because it was part of Windows Search, and of course, we all know how they push Copilot.
Apple isn't perfect (iCloud is fine on macOS, but iOS is quite misleading and often defaults to on even if you really don't want it), but overall my Mac respects my wishes as a user and it makes me look forward to using my computer as a tool.

We are in agreement - I was coming from a place of understanding as to why the PC felt that way, but going on to say that Kdenlive hasn't had this issue in at least 4 years in my experience.

I think this is where I sit - I'm personally of the opinion that AI crawlers and thus companies should respect robots.txt, and they shouldn't be trying to scale up to the point of adversely affecting the environment (both natural and supply chain).
I do find value in mindfully using models - perhaps I've got a weird thing to troubleshoot on my Linux server and I just don't want to spend the time or mental effort in tracing it back.
Because I do tend to use AI mindfully, I strongly dislike Microsoft's strategy in constantly pushing their AI solution Copilot. I would rather use it when I feel its right rather than always be reminded its a thing I can use to save time and increase my efficiency around every corner.

There's already a lot of replies to this comment so it clearly hit a nerve with a lot of people!
All I'll add is that if this was 5 years ago, I'd completely agree with you as I've had my timeline completely screw up before, or other unusual behaviours that ended up causing a project reset. And I'm not the only one[1], I remember this video when it came out.
But while I'm not a regular YouTuber or videomaker, I still use Kdenlive about once a month and anecdotally it hasn't done this in at least 4 years. However, having software that you spend so much time working with ruin a project is legitimately traumatising, so I understand your strong feelings.
[1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9gbsDkzKK8

Always found it incredibly strange that my Mazda 323 from 1995 (originally released in 1989) doesn’t have the arrow [1], but it’s co-developed Ford Laser KF/KH does [2]
Although, I believe the platform was primarily developed by Mazda so perhaps they didn’t catch onto this arrow until well after my generation of 323 was on the market.
[1] https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/cBUPxJJlgjs6KOI2.f...

Anecdotally I’ve driven far fewer cars; my Mazda 323 BG has the filler on the left, but my Subaru Forester SG is on the right, despite both being of Japanese origin.
My Forester is likely to be an exception rather than the rule, however I do feel that the everyday person isn’t going to make the connection between the country of origin and filler side, especially so if it’s not consistent.
I never noticed the Moylan Arrow on my Forester for a year in owning it, and often mixed up the side for that time. Interestingly, my 323 doesn’t have the Moylan Arrow, but the Ford Laser equivalent does.

More recent Mac convert (actually gone Linux -> M1 Mac) and the initial M1 Air I bought, I naturally upgraded to Tahoe and felt that while it's pretty (and I really, really want the world to move on from Material interfaces), I did also feel the readability concerns were completely valid.
I had to return that Mac for a screen defect, and the one I now have has been kept back on Sequoia, and I'm totally fine with it and will probably stick with it until security updates stop, at which point I surely hope Tahoe is more readable.
