Can you provide examples of such a place? From my perspective, I find it difficult to believe that this has ever been attempted at a scale that is sufficient to come to that conclusion. I'd love to hear otherwise.

Format on save is my worst enemy. It may work fine for go, but you'll eventually run into code where it isn't formatted using the one your editor is configured for. Then, you end up formatting the whole file or having to remember how to disable save formatting. I check formatting as a git hook on commits instead.

I used gentoo for years. While I still have a fond spot for those memories, saying that it is simpler than nixos is just flat out wrong. I've vastly simplified my involvement and removed most pitfalls from my day to day. Years pass with minimal breakage or churn and my devices just keep working.

I think it may just be a personal thing about the feeling of a vehicle. All of my cars felt dead until I got into an EV. Now, I actually get giddy about using it and accelerating. Before it was just emptiness.

I see it more as a simplicity fetish. I don't want to have to deal with the complexity of software that is not packaged via nix. It's a big headache to deal with, I need it to be simple and work.

Can you provide any specific examples of this "period of extreme leftist opinions"? I can't see this as anything but a non-legitimate comment due to this line. Where the hell has there ever been such a thing? At best I see it as a period of right leaning centrism.

I like eggs fried crispy. I like eggs fried in butter. Eggs fried gently and soft are luxurious. Oil cooked eggs are lovely. You can do it in a wok and get them puffy with a crispy bottom and a soft top. Or you can make the top crispy. Sometimes butter brings extra flavor when I really want the egg flavor. There are many valid ways to make eggs.

If anyone needs to stay in their lane, it is you. Your analogy doesn't work either. I have my build scripting standardized and in version control. You can't change it because you don't have permission. Even if you did, I still have my copy. Your rude attitude is unwelcome.

I think this may be far more personal than expected. One of the things I like about running NixOS on my workstations and servers is that it's mostly hands off and right where I left it. I commonly go weeks to months or more without touching it, and it's all right there, organized, and ready to go. It allows me to offload a lot of the context and there's not much to have to remember.
