OTH I have a DIR-612 somewhere which is just chugging. I do need to add some ip dilters, but not less the enterprise would pay me.

BTW transfer errors aren't indicating the drive errors. SATA is a quite nimble protocol so CRC errors do indicate the problem between the drive and the controller.

Anyone who mentions SMART and reliability in the one sentence isn't worth reading - sorry OP.

I hve had bazillions of drives with a perfect SMART - which were unusable, and mamy others which had SMART throwing OSHA at me - yet they worked for decades, literally.

What happens if Explorer itself crashes?

What happens if your NotificationAreaAPIv2 is not widely adopted?

What happens with the apps what were never adopted to your v2 API? (You still have the problem anyway).

EDIT: And what happens with the old apps when you deprecate the old API?

Yes, let's invent some system for Explorer to query and maintain the notification area icons and for the apps to report their list of the notification icons. Some KPI pusher would be vewy-vewy glad.

By the way, if the app wouldn't respond in time, what should happen with the icon? What would happen if Explorer removes the icon but the app which still thinks it has - would update it?

Remap Shift to CapsLock or whatever. I also have full mouse controls on the right side which is a gimmick but comes handy once in a while.

You need to provide the reason in the first sentence. Sure, once in a while a do read some cold emails but most of the time if the one-line snippet in the list of all other messages doesn't provide a reason - it goes to the trash.

Nah, while Conroe did it part it wasn't till Wolfdale with Bearlake/Eaglelake when it fully got both the speed and the cost.

AMD CPUs were still a good price/performance choice well into 2010.

There is one glaring reason - money. I don't know if they would do it but there is no question what they would at least think about it, especially considering they do/would have the knobs to do it.
