That's a totally reasonable expectation and I agree with you on that. Nobody reasonable would expect him to compete with Waymo, Tesla and others.

Buying the software isn't the problem here. The problem with Project 3 Mobility (Verne) is that they made a lot of promisses to get the EU money, together with other benefits from the Croatian government. They didn't deliver on anything so far. Couple of things come to mind:

1. Prototype was supposed to be out in 2022.

2. "Mobility center", infrastructure for charging etc was also supposed to be done in 2022.

3. Street testing of cars and beginning of manufacturing to begin in 2024.

4. Cars that will have L5 autonomy.

It didn't take you long to make Godwin's law true. Is somebody a criminal if they knowingly used dirty money? That's for the courts to decide, but I know what my opinion on this is.

My last sentence was about dispelling the myth that Rimac is self made. Rimac never said where he got the money for racing and re-building his electric BMW (multiple times) when he was 18, nor did he ever explain where he got the money to develop a super sport car Concept_one.

It's interesting that you decided to focus on just 1 sentence in my comment, but ignored majority of facts about his self driving project, which was actually the topic of this thread.

Rimac got 180M euros from EU for the RoboTaxi project for a L5 autonomy, but he's just buying Mobileye L3 system. Verne presented the RoboTaxi in 6/2024, but they couldn't get the car to move to the stage. After they have been caught, they've admitted the plan was for the car to be driven remotely with a joystick to the stage. Not to mention that they said 3 years ago they will have cars on the roads in 2024, now that's pushed to 2026. Also to add - Rimac's father, who is convicted to 3 years in jail for financial crimes, sponsored his electric BMW and the company.

Moving to NYC couple of years ago I learned the best way to deal with those type of people is to let go and move on. It really isn't worth wasting your time and energy on those people, because they will just ruin your day. Best case scenario you feel better for couple of minutes and then you forget about it. Worst case you end up dead, in jail or worse.

Well that only works with people that are not afraid of fighting you and possibly winning against you - and there's always somebody that's better trained and/or stronger then you. When you encounter that kind of person, if you challenge them, they will step up and fight you, because they will feel they have no other choice. Reasons could range from pride, (imagined) loss of (self) respect to just being aggressive bullies that enjoy hurting other people. Of course if you're 6'7'' and 240 lbs not a lot of people would want to start arguing with you in the first place.

What are you taking about? Sweden reported that this November was the deadliest in the last 100 years since the Spanish flu in 1918. Compared to Norway, Sweden has 20x more deaths from covid (Sweden 8000 vs Norway 400 deaths) and Sweden has only 2x population (10M vs 5M). And Norway has a better GDP than Sweden despite stricter lockdown policies.
