I'm close to being libertarian in many cases; however, I think that a tax may be a good way to quickly address this issue. I also believe that the money received from this tax should be directly spent on educating the public about why it's bad to consume too much sugar. The tax should be gradually decreased until people's habits change.

You can thank the government for all the regulations which make it ultra hard for new companies to enter the market. You can thank the government for not fighting monopolies. Don’t blame the free market as it basically doesn’t exist.

I just had this thought (possibly unrelated to this particular situation): We see how many accidents are caused by autonomous vehicles therefore it’s easy to blame them. However what we don’t see is how many accidents did not happen because of autonomous vehicles. I hope regulators consider both cases.

Recently Poland was in a similar situation. We produced too much energy from renewables. As a consequence we had to pay a few millions to other countries to take the energy. Moreover we had to compensate to individuals who have FV but their energy was not allowed to the grid. This is absolutely insane to me. Mining crypto sounds way better than this chaos. If not on country level then on individual level. I'd happily start mining myself if electricity prices were not fixed but followed the real demand.

In the past 3 years I've built 4 apps (1 mid-size, 3 small-mid) using Apollo and IMO it's currently the best possible approach. I did a research for my latest app a half year ago looking for sensible alternatives and didn't really find any.

Well, apart from the US:

1. In Japan, the crisis resulted in a prolonged period of economic stagnation, known as the "Lost Decade," which lasted from the early 1990s to the early 2000s. The country had already been struggling with a banking crisis and a property market crash, and the dot-com bubble burst only made things worse.

2. In Europe, the crisis led to a slowdown in economic growth, particularly in Germany, which was heavily dependent on exports. The country was hit by declining demand from the United States, which was one of its biggest trading partners.

3. In emerging market economies, the crisis led to a decline in investment flows and a slowdown in economic growth. Countries like Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina were particularly affected, as they were heavily dependent on foreign investment to finance their economic growth.

Overall, IMO the 2000 crisis had rather a significant impact on the global economy, leading to a decline in economic growth in many countries. I wouldn't call it "soft landing".

I do not know what may or may not happen as if I knew, I’d become very rich. My point here is that the article from 2000 indicates soft landing when the landing definitely was not soft at that time. Just wanted to show the value of such articles.
