That did give us our first software rendered transparent water rooms though (Quake had the water opaque unless you had 3DFX card IIRC)

I always loved that the bridge you mentioned could take damage and fall down, screwing you over in the very first level, unless you knew where the Jetpack was stashed.

It seemed, as a fan of the genre in the 90s, like these Renaissance Engineers were behind every major hit. I remember some of their names, they are true artists.

I have no idea the names of nearly anyone but a CEO or lead Director in the games industry of the past 15 years.

You always have to define stationary when it comes to relativity.

There is no way to have a “zero speed orbit”. You’d be on a trajectory straight in to the middle of the sun or away from it (under your own power). The only way to stop is to push away with equal constant acceleration (which looks like “force”). This is what rockets do.

I’m a landlord. I’m losing money because the Seattle market went to shit and nobody will buy this place.

I bought for $850k in 2017. Selling now asking $899k and no-one’s buying. Think of my ARR with inflation and opportunity cost here. I sold Facebook shares to get this. I have made zero return from rents overall. I’d likely have earned $1M if I hadn’t sold those shares.

MSFT does have a frontier AI Lab. My friend works there. I don’t know what they’re doing. But MSFT is one of like 5 entities that actually have the talent and physical infrastructure to compete in model-building.
