Oh ho ho, no. Not to the human content creators. They'll lobby, they'll huff and puff and spend billions until the laws get changed in their favor. One day blocking claude scraper might just "suddenly" become illegal. Oh it won't be phrased as such. There will be excuses and misdirections, but the end result will be what the AI overlords desire.

As someone with a degree in translation, all proper translations are interpretations. Even similar languages usually have enough differences that a by-the-word translation pushed by some as the only true translation sounds wrong and/or broken to the native ear.

Consider a simple statement: "I am bored." In french they "literally" say "I am boring myself." instead. And English in many respects is french-pidgin. It gets worse when the lingusitic distance widens as many languages store various information across different words and constructs.

We do not do literal. Never did literal. That's why you learn whole languages, not just the words.

I resemble that remark.

I haven't tried AROS in a while because I still treat it as a bit of a novelty and it's always a bit of a chore to set up a system for it. Raspi3 is cheap and easy to set up, might see what's the deal with it these days after all.

At least some reviews for Worms mentioned Scorched Earth (in superlatives too). It was big enough that systems that didn't have it, wish they had it.

Nitpick: not Gorilla.bas; it was the actual OG, Artillery. Prototypes, which used sprites ripped from Lemmings, were even named "Lemartillery".

And the creative bankrupcy of T17 is a whole another topic. I would rather suggest that they lucked into Worms when Davidson approached them by happenstance, and would not survive otherwise.

Well yeah. Look no further than the "brevity is the soul of wit" quote. It's taken at literal value when, in context, you know it's a joke, a potshot at the expense of the character saying it, who's anything but brief in speech.

It's not really the same thing. Construction and especially the high content of charged metal (whether it's power conduits or plain old frame) may make a considerable difference.

IME Q2 also ran much slower on comparable hardware despite looking worse. The first rig I played them on was an unaccelerated P200MX with a paltry 32 megs of RAM and Q2 struggled at 320x240 while Unreal was slightly choppy but acceptable at 400x300.

Good lord, 400x300.

the problem with this reasoning is that it assumes or tries to imply that people "back then" all held such backwards beliefs, which far too often is not the case. For instance, see how Morse's diatribes on slavery and racism are presented - but the state he was born and operated in already abolished slavery about a decade before his birth.
