This is a sad day. I used heroku for years (in the past).

A few alternatives to consider

- https://render.com/ - this is very close to heroku

- https://coolify.io/ - My personal favorite. It's slightly more involved, but you can run it on any hardware like hetzner and save a boatload.

I have been using Google voice for 10+ years, and it's always been something that concerns me. I've been worried about Google either banning me or dropping the service. Does anyone know of a good alternative, I'm happy to pay for something but the main thing is it needs to be able to work from the browser like Google voice.

Somewhat related is "Oh My ZSH!" which is basically zsh on steroids, it's always one of the first things I install on a new computer. It gives things like new colors, themes, plugins, and more. Highly recommend you check it out.

Wow that's a really good idea. I could potentially buy 4 Nvidia P40's for the same price as a 3090 and run inference on pretty much any model I want.

Show HN: Noisy Nest Free white/pink/brown noise generator

Hi All, i was playing around with GPT-4 today, and threw together a simple noise generator. It can play pink, brown, and white noise indefinitely. I spent maybe an hour creating this. It's quite amazing what you can do with such little time with AI. Let me know if you think of any features to add, and i'll consider adding them to make this more useful.

I lived in Tokyo for a little over 3 years from 2017 to 2020, and this video brings back some really fond memories.

Here's a few fun facts about Japan's trains:

- Every single station has a different song that plays. Here is a sampling of some: https://youtu.be/470_2wt2t1o

- In the deep subway stations they pump in bird sounds to make it not feel so deep

- The trains can be paid for with a specific card called the Suica card and/or pasmo card. This can also be used as a debit card at various shops. But recently due to the chip shortage these cards have been harder to get.

This is a really great list. I see that you're constantly doing many things at the same time, do you ever feel like you're spreading yourself too thin? I wonder if you could benefit from focusing on one thing as opposed to working on many things at once.
