Here's the Safety Ladder that exploits Fears to justify anything - Why are you doing X?

We are doing it for your safety.

We are doing it for the safety of your family.

We are doing it to keep the org and thousands of jobs afloat.

We are doing it to save the country

Reducing peoples fears, not increasing them is the only path to prevent the entire chimp troupe quickly climbing that ladder any time something unpredictable happens.

It pops out of the Explore-Exploit Tradeoff. So we end up with separate spaces like academia, labs, studios etc. See how the story ends for Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Galileo etc. Tale as old as time.

Ashby's Law of Requisite Variety asserts that for a system to effectively regulate or control a complex environment, it must possess at least as much internal behavioral variety (complexity) as the environment it seeks to control.

This is what we see in nature. Massive variety. Thats a fundamental requirement of surviving all the unpredictablity in the universe.

We hire Bullshiters to run around 24x7 to tell people what they should be scared of, what they should love, what numbers they should hit, what status they should aspire to, what flag they should die for etc because left to themselves they will come up with very different answers.

Given the variety within the chimp troupe, in terms of personality traits, needs, backgrounds, skills, taste etc there is no good reason why groups wont drift apart with time. Unless the Bullshiter is on patrol 24x7.

Most have never taken a Philosophy or Political Philosophy class which shows these are ancient cycles with slight variations. These cycles keep repeating because of how the human brain handles fear and unpredictability. That has not changed in thousands of years. It just creates stories. When stories dont align the cycle reboots.
