My name is Brett and I'm the solo developer behind Mindstamp.

Back in 2018, I built a product called Aech that let you add comments on top of videos for your friends so it felt like you were watching together.

That didn't quite work, but it got into the hands of a couple video agencies using it for client feedback, and for the past 7 years I've listened to the feedback that users have given to continually improve the platform.

Today, we are used primarily by corporate training teams and educational institutions that want to ensure their content is being 1. watched and 2. understood.

Rather than watching a video and taking a quiz at the end, we put that quiz right inside the video to ensure they are paying attention.

Mindstamp is built using a Rails backend and a Vue.js frontend. A few months back, I completed a full rebuild of the entire app since it accumulated a lot of technical debt after 7 years of learning while building. It took me 12 months, but now I can sleep at night, so I'd say it was worth it.

As a business owner, I don't envy his margins, but I certainly hope to see more companies doing similar in the future. We need to make re-use cool and something to brag about.

A group of surgeons at University College Dublin created a series of 17 interactive interactive videos where they provide the viewer with the patient details, allow them to observe the blood flow via a fluorescent dye, and then ask them to draw the location where they would make an incision or insert a stapler.

550+ responses were gathered from medical professionals in 8 countries around the world. Their paper is currently being reviewed for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

- The app is in the scheduling realm and involves some semi-complicated algorithms

- I did not contribute in any way to the desktop app and it's written in an old language that I don't know at all

- I plan to build the new app in Ruby on Rails, which I am experienced with

- We've identified ~75% of the current functionality that needs to be included in the first version of the web app

- The desktop app has had strong acquisition interest in the past and the best case scenario for all parties would to be acquired in the next 2 years

Creators create a simple profile and can accept tips via Credit & Debit cards, Apple & Google Pay, Paypal, and Venmo.

No account is required for tippers. Creators can see who tipped them as well as a message if they included one.

Its a Rails 5 API application with Vue.js / Nuxt frontend.

Insignificant revenue to share. We haven't put hardly any marketing behind it. The code is clean and could be easily repurposed to fit any scenario where tipping is relevant.
