Hey everyone, my name is Lakshika and I created Allo - a simple, beautiful and ad-free social network that resembles the old ello.co
I was a heavy user of ello back when it was a thing and it was sad to see it go downhill. I really liked the simplicity of ello, and thought it would be cool to bring that back. Allo resembles about 90% of how ello.co was back in the day.
Anyway I will keep this short. If anyone interested in joining, you can create an account at https://sayallo.xyz
I’m actively working on improving it so if you find any bugs, please let me know in the comments here and I will fix them right away.
Cheers!

We are also currently working on a privacy-focused alternative called Kloak, which is in its very early alpha stage. We would greatly appreciate your feedback on areas for improvement and any expectations you may have for the platform.
Here is a quick promo video as well - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekOxAg7leXM

Hey everyone, two of us have been working on a privacy-focused Discord alternative for some time and we’re opening it up for early testing to see how it performs and to get real feedback.
Kloak is privacy-first by design. There are no emails and no passwords. When you join, you’re given a secret key, and that key is your account. There is no recovery mechanism and no central identity tied to you. If the key is lost, the account is gone. This is intentional and meant to reduce stored user data and avoid creating identity honeypots.
Most of the core features are already in place. You can create servers, channels, roles, and permissions, upload files and custom emojis, etc.
We’re still early, and the main goal right now is to validate the model, catch UX issues, and stress the system a bit before going further. We’re especially interested in thoughts around the key-based account approach and any privacy or security trade-offs we may be overlooking.
If you’re curious or want to poke at it, it takes only a few seconds to join and doesn’t require any personal information. You can join Kloak at https://kloak.app
Feel free to join our official server too through https://kloak.app/invite/PV3FEB8N

I’ve been using status.cafe for a while and I love it, but if there is one thing that has been bugging me is that there’s no way to export all the status updates I’ve posted over the years. If the site goes down someday, that whole history is just gone.
With that thought bugging me, I built kibun.social, a minimal status.cafe-like service built on top of atmosphere, the same open social protocol used by Bluesky.
Because it’s decentralized, every status you post is stored directly inside your PDS. You can export them, move to another app, or build your own frontend in the future. The platform is basically just a viewer/writer on top of your data.
It's very straightforward and takes seconds to update your status. You login with your atproto handle, select an emoji and post your status. You also gets your own RSS feed for your statuses if you want to follow them elsewhere.
It’s still early but I’d love to hear what people think - especially people who enjoy small social spaces and decentralized web stuff.

I built nooki.me, a simple and minimal discussion platform powered by ATProto (the open social protocol behind Bluesky).
The idea is to bring back the feel of old-school forums and early web discussions which slower, calmer, and more personal but with the benefits of a decentralized social network.
Most modern social platforms optimize for engagement, not conversation. I wanted something that felt like a place that is small, intentional, and owned by users. ATProto made this possible because posts, comments, communities and identity are all yours — not locked into one app.
Everything but not limited to posts, comments, communities are stored on the AT network, meaning you can move between compatible apps anytime.
The UI is intentionally minimal and only supports text posts at the moment.
I’d love feedback — especially from those who care about the open web, digital minimalism, or the future of social protocols.

I built a lightweight place called 'daynote.club' to journal together. Every day, the platform posts one shared prompt. Everyone writes a short reflection on that prompt, and you can interact with each other with likes and comments. Your profile shows a chronological list of your day notes, so it’s easy (and fun) to revisit what you’ve written over time.
Why: Many people want to journal but don’t know what to write. A single daily prompt gives just enough structure, and the social layer keeps it motivating.
What you can do:
- Write your reflection on today’s prompt
- Read others notes, leave comments and likes
- Browse your profile to review all your past day notes
It’s still early, so there are rough edges and I’m sure I’ve missed things. If you have a moment to click around, I’d really appreciate thoughts on what feels confusing, what’s missing, and what you’d expect from something like this.

i built nooki because most community platforms today feel noisy, bloated, and optimized for ad revenue instead of people. reddit’s recent changes pushed me to create something simpler.
current features:
- no ads, no tracking
- text-only posts (no images/media yet unless heavily requested)
- no algorithms. posts in plain chronological order (with hot/new/top sorting)
- communities you can create and moderate yourself (mods can only control their own communities)
- voting + threaded comments
- points system that gives active users a stronger voice
- customizable notifications (decide exactly what you want to be pinged for)
it’s still barebones, but functional. the goal is to keep it simple: a space for conversations without all the noise. i’m soft-launching this today and would love some feedback on what to improve or add next.
i’m working on making nooki open source too as transparency and community involvement are the goal.

Hey guys. I’ve been building a side project called nooki.me - It's a very minimal Reddit-style discussion site focused only on text discussions (no images, videos, or memes)
It has communities (like subreddits), voting, and comments, but I’ve tried to strip away everything else. The idea is to see if a text-first, distraction-free space for discussion still feels good in 2025.
For now it’s only text posts, but if it ever takes off and people want to post media, I’d consider adding image/video support.
I’m soft-launching it now to gather feedback and early impressions. Would love to hear what the HN thinks:
– Does the minimalism feel refreshing or limiting?
– What’s missing that you’d expect in a community site?
– Any ideas for features that would make it genuinely useful?

Totally fair callout, let me clarify. Berrylog does have a free plan with a 5,000 event cap. The difference (and the reason I criticized other tools) is that they don’t just cap usage. They also delete your data, restrict retention, and then lock you into paying a subscription forever.
With Berrylog, all your events (even on the free tier) go straight into your own database. Nothing ever gets wiped. You always own 100% of your history. The free tier is just a way to let people test things out and cover some infra costs. Once you upgrade, it’s a one-time fee for unlimited projects/events forever.

The very first thing I do when starting a new project is add analytics. I want to know if anyone is actually using it and how.
The worst part about most analytics platforms is that even their free plans come with strings attached. Limited to just a few thousand events per month, or worse, your data gets wiped after 30 days. That’s useless if you care about long-term growth. Paid plans weren’t much better either because of capped projects, limited retention, and costs that quickly ballooned if you’re tracking multiple side projects.
I figured there had to be a better way, so I built my own. I wanted something where I didn’t pay per site and where I truly owned my data.
That’s how https://berrylog.app was born.
The idea is simple: you bring your own database (for now Berrylog supports Supabase). Every log, every event, every pageview from all your projects is stored directly in your Supabase database. You’re the sole owner of your data. That means unlimited, historical analytics across all your projects with no recurring fee just to access what’s already yours.
At first, I built it just for myself because I was tired of overspending on something so essential. But after using it for a while, I realized this isn’t just my problem, it’s something every indie hacker runs into.
So I’m opening it up to the community. Berrylog.app is an analytics platform built with indie hackers in mind: one-time payment, unlimited websites, unlimited events. No subscriptions, no artificial limits.
I’d love for you to give it a try and let me know what you think.

I built a Bring-Your-Own database platform

I'm an indie hacker with a bad habit: I have way too many side projects. Some are thriving and some are just a few lines of code and for a long time, all of them were costing me money.
The first thing I do when I start a new side project is add analytics. I want to see how people use it, if they're even using it at all. But I couldn't stomach another monthly subscription.
The worst part of analytics platform was that even the free plans had a catch. They'd limit me to a few thousand events a month, or they'd just delete all my data after 30 days. It was useless for tracking long-term growth. And the paid plans weren't much better. They'd cap you at a few sites and even then, your data retention was only a few years. If I had to track a dozen side projects, the costs would balloon to an amount that just didn't make sense for me.
I knew there had to be a better way, so I decided to build my own. I wanted a solution where I didn't have to pay per site and where I actually owned my data.
That’s how berrylog.app was born.
The core idea is simple: you bring your own database. Every single log, every event, and every page view from all of your projects is saved directly to your Supabase database. You are the sole owner of your data. You get an unlimited, historical record of your analytics for all your projects without paying a recurring fee to some company just to access your own information.
I honestly just made it for myself because I was tired of paying a fortune for something so essential. But after using it for a while, I realized it was too useful to keep to myself. This wasn't just my problem; it's a shared pain point for every indie hacker.
So, I’m sharing it with the community. I've built an analytics platform that truly respects the indie hacker's wallet and sanity. It’s a one-time payment for unlimited websites and unlimited events. No more paying a subscription for a project that might never get off the ground.
Berrylog.app is my contribution back to this community. I would love for you to give it a try and let me know if you have any suggestions.

About 90% of day-to-day users won’t bother recording a video—plus, most people aren’t even aware of the browser’s screen sharing feature and may feel uneasy about what it’s doing. So in my opinion, a simple note is the best way to go.
