This is a good article and a fun algorithm. Google made a great series of compression videos a while ago - albeit sometimes silly. For the Burrows-Wheeler one they interviewed Mike Burrows for some of the history. https://youtu.be/4WRANhDiSHM

We’ve been talking about this for a while, but it’s always fun to revisit in the context of the latest advancements and trends. I always liked the conclusion that Dustin Curtis came to which is: if you can use “your” in the UX it acts like a conversation with the user. This is even more appropriate as UX is becoming literally conversational.
https://dcurt.is/yours-vs-mine

Yes, depending on the team. We have a legacy Elixir backend that we’ve been breaking into services written in Go. We also have a couple of newer Elixir services. We’d love Elixir experience especially if you are also interested in Go.

Rash guards are halfway between a wetsuit and a sun shirt. I have one for surfing, but I got the kids wetsuits because Flathead Lake can be cold as well as sunny. They have more fun and play longer in the water with them.

I’ve started to minimize my use of sunscreen. It still important to stay protected from the sun, but long sleeves, hoods, hats, and pants are a great alternative. The lightweight sun shirts are comfortable and more convenient.
For my kids, I got them cheap wetsuits from Amazon for the time we spend camping at the lake. This is also cheaper than sunscreen. They can fully manage it on their own since about age 6 or 7.

Of course this isn’t really monumental, but it can be hard to understand history if you’re looking at it through a modern lens. Humor was different, and this phrase was not in the lexicon like it is now. It was fresher then.

It’s funny, I first thought the game was going to be a commentary on the “no mechanical transport in the wilderness” rule that he mentioned at the end. You cannot have a bicycle in the wilderness. You can’t push it or carry it. I guess this simplifies enforcement. If someone is camped with a bike, they can be ticketed.
I have friends that do long bike camping trips, and they sometimes want to pass through areas of wilderness on their trips. What do they do? They take apart the bike and pack it, because you are allowed to have bike parts in the wilderness.
