What'd you fix? Lower numbers than Ookla are by design (if that's your concern). Speedof.me is single connection, so it's what one real download gets, not the theoretical max. See our FAQ: https://speedof.me/faq.html

Hi HN,
We built this using test data from SpeedOf.Me, our browser based internet speed test.
The dataset covers millions of tests from the first half of 2026. We calculated median (not average) download, upload and latency across 119 countries. Then turned it into an interactive map, a sortable ranking and country pages with ISP and device breakdowns.
Notes on the methodology:
Tests run in the browser using a single connection to the best available server. We report medians, limit any one traffic source to 50% of a countries sample and only include those with at least 500 tests.
So, this reflects the SpeedOf.Me user base and not a national census (thats a limitation with any panel based dataset including Ookla and Cloudflare anyways).
The dataset is available as CSV and JSON under CC BY 4.0.
