This is a bit sad. The kind of people who post AI generated comments to farm reputation or exert undue influence will not be discouraged by politely asking them to stop. It's a toothless request that will only encourage people who clumsily police each other.

Without some kind of private proof of personhood enforced at the app level, this means nothing.

The signatories of this site are leaping at a misguided opportunity for moral credit, when the reality is that they're getting whipped into a left-leaning frenzy.

As Undersecretary Jeremy Lewin clarified today[1], these weighty decisions should not be made by activists inside companies, but made by laws and legitimate government.

I've been using XMTP[1] and their agent SDK[2] for agent-to-agent and user-to-agent messaging. Since it's the same network, you can reach other peoples' agents (and all users). Another huge advantage is you don't have to stand up your own infrastructure.

Apple is believed to be adding multispectral imaging to future generations of the iPhone. This and 3d mapping are more than enough to defeat the "point the camera at a high res screen" trick.

The issue is that age verifiers (like Discord) are not really trying.

This makes sense. I already use Grokipedia maybe 50% of the time. If you really dig into things, it is - incredibly - more accurate. I often find glaring errors or biases in Wikipedia, especially over the last 5 years.

Many will downvote this, but this is profound validation of the concern that Europe is nearly suicidally trending toward what will be a disastrous relationship with China. Only the US seems to appreciate the risks. Complete insanity, not unlike German denuclearization, etc.

Europe's censorious behavior has become completely absurd, and reading the Italian docs (as several people here have already shared) doesn't make me more sympathetic. It's a real shame, and I'm disappointed that the dream of an internet free from censorship and manipulation seems to be forgotten by so many here - in favor of political squabbling.

It has been long predicted that federated models (like Nostr) just degrade into a few providers that monetize in the same way they would if the network was centralized. It's the worst of both worlds between centralization and real decentralization — which (unfortunately to the haters) almost certain requires Byzantine fault tolerant consensus (blockchains).

Same thing over and over again.

Elephant in the room: what about meetings where the purpose is to receive updates, maintain context on project progress, etc.? Yes, sometimes (often!) these meetings can be emails or messages — but sometimes it's important to be able to ask or even hear others ask questions, and to get a sense of how people are feeling directly.

This seems to be missed by the author.

Given the mountain of evidence for Wikipedia's left wing bias[1][2][3][4], it seems something ought to change, but hard to answer "how?"

I expect to receive many downvotes for this, despite providing high-quality and authoritative sources. Which is not unlike what happens on Wikipedia :)

I haven't found this to be the case. I check both regularly and much of the "science" that has engagement on Bluesky is thinly-veiled political slop earning engagement as a form of tacit "resistance". It's paper thin (and even the comments here on HN demonstrate a bit of this effect).

X downranks links in general, unfortunately, so unless the research is reformatted for X (rare) it won't get much engagement.
