I'm looking for some references on past research that has been done which tries to predict how long a pandemic would last based on various factors like source of the outbreak, vaccination available or not, nature of the virus, etc. This research could be based on pandemics that have plagued our society in the past.
Any research papers on the same or reference links would be highly appreciated on this topic.

I'm in talks with getting into a business partnership with someone as a tech co-founder. My main responsibilities would include leading the product development, planning the architecture and managing a tech team. My co-founder's responsibilities would be to lead the vision, bring in clients for our products and putting in the initial investment required to get things running.
In such a business scenario, how much equity should I expect as a tech co-founder? What other factors should I consider before getting into such an arrangement?

> I've built many systems in this area, but it wasn't until I started working in the Indian market (>10 yrs ago) that it became abundantly clear that trying to calculate the long/shorts signals using historical (/time series) data was a waste of time. (And yet my primary role was to provide tools that did exactly that).
I'm currently working on building similar tools in my area of work for the Indian market and would really appreciate if you could shed some more light into the things you learned from your experience in working in this domain.

As a programmer who is suddenly entrusted with a lot of responsibilities at work, I'm having a hard time coping up with the uncertainty of not knowing a lot of things I'm supposed to be knowing. For example, I don't have much experience designing complex architectures and making the system work at scale, and that's exactly what I'm supposed to be working on at work in the coming weeks. There are no senior programmers in my team, so its scary to think that I have to be on top of my game at all times.
So my question is this: How do you deal with the uncertainty that comes with the nature of our craft? How do you keep learning new technologies quickly and adapt to the ever-changing use cases? How do you dive deep into a code base written by someone else, reverse-engineer it, understand the high-level logic and get things working as quickly as possible? Should I just go with the flow, give it my best and just fake it till I make it? Or is there a more scientific approach to this?

Currently 25. I'm currently working full-time as a programmer in a startup, and working another job on weekends. Have been trying to spend an hour or two every day in exploring the domain of Machine Learning. The rest of my free time is spent in reading (I try to read a book a month), watching a TV series or just browsing various tech and business related websites.
I've never been busier in my life. And yet, I feel like I haven't been able to accomplish a lot with the limited time I have at my disposal after work and a long day's commute. As a result, I have to cut back on my sleep. I average about 5 hours of sleep a day every week, which is not nearly enough. I do get burned out from time to time, following which I take a day or two off every month or so to recuperate.
My plan for the next few years is to start my own tech business. At 25, everything I do on a daily basis is my attempt to attain financial freedom so that I can spend the rest of my life doing what I really want to do and no longer work for money, but work because I want to on things I find meaningful.

So about 5 years ago, someone I knew had a stroke, and incidentally, as soon as we administered a sugar liquid, he came into his senses and we were able to prevent any permanent and lasting damage to his brain. The doctor said that he suffered an Ischemic stroke.
Coming back to today, he started showing symptoms of stroke again after all these years - difficulty maintaining balance or comprehending the surroundings. We quickly gave him a glass of sugared water and a spoon of sugar and he was again back to his senses. Now, I find it hard to believe that there is any relation between sugar and the role it plays in alleviating stroke-related symptoms, and I would like to ask an expert's opinion on this.
PS: He's a diabetic too.

As a student or as someone who has recently graduated, how would you decide which domain you are inclined towards and then decide to pursue a career in it?
I have met quite a few students and recently graduated freshers who have had good grades and a sound technical knowledge, but are clueless about the domain that they want to pursue a career in. Having a plethora of options to chose from only makes this decision making process harder for them.
So my question is, what advice would you give to someone who is just about to step into the real world and has no clue as to what domain he is interested in?

I really liked the minimalist design and color pattern of the product. Just one feature request: can I also see how many unique visitors have been on my side project page? The visitor count increments every time I reload the page, which may not really tell me how many visitors have shown interest in my project. A unique visitor count would give me better insights.
I was about to start working on a side project of mine today and I couldn't have found Prehave at a better time. Do visit https://prehave.com/p/bookay for my side project's constant updates!

I've been maintaining textual notes of the various books that I have read for future reference for quite some time now in notepad. I'm pretty sure some of you maintain such notes too which you could then refer to later on.
That got me thinking about the scope of a web application that would allow users to maintain, share and rate other user's book notes. This product won't be similar to Goodreads in the sense that users won't be sharing and rating reviews of their favorite books, but rather the notes that they maintain for them.
What do you guys think about such a product? Is this something people would want to use, or are traditional methods of maintaining book notes more convenient than using an actual product for the same?

I'm currently planning to organize a 5-day coding bootcamp in Mumbai next month on game development. What does it take to organize a successful coding bootcamp? I have hired a good trainer and have a space that can be used to accommodate at least 15 students. I'm planning to provide free lunch on all five days to everyone involved, along with certifications. Have also developed a website with a form which can be used to take registrations. I'm planning to use Facebook as a medium to publicize my scheduled bootcamp. That being said, are there any mistakes I should avoid making in my first try at organizing a coding bootcamp?
