The journalist knew what she was doing. Naomi was in China, agreed to do an interview about her self & her work, then the journo tried to drum up clicks by putting her on the spot about politics.

Real consequences for the interviewee, all for some clicks. That's not journalism.

After working for a while at a marketing/digital shop, the topic of crypto came up over a work lunch one day. I fell down the rabbit hole and found a nascent project with some interesting stuff on the tech side.

I saw they had a bounty program for a mobile app, I built an app alpha & claimed the bounty. The foundation running the project saw this and reached out. 6 years, 3 countries & a few wild rides later, I can't thank the guy who was crapping on crypto enough.

They never said anything about Banks.

Conceptually, a service provider utilizing Ethereum could create or aggregate on-chain services and package them in a similar format to what a bank is today with very little overhead.

Thats a touch disingenuous. It was never meant to power the whole of South Australia. It was specifically built to mitigate the peak power price gouging [0] that had been happening the for prior 10 years.

The 6 minutes it can run for during each cycle saves millions of dollars a year. Specifically 40mil in the first year. The cost of the unit was 66 Mil [1], so thats an insane break even time for grid infrastructure.

Became interested in a startup's technology and joined their developer community. I build some small examples and offered my help here and there.

After helping out (paid) they kept asking for more assistance. I asked to formalise my relationship with them and got the job.

When I first bought ETH (Coinbase) it took 5 min verification and a debit card. Practically instant in comparison to traditional financial setup times.

I think that is a very narrow definition. Elon as of today is worth 20.7b (Forbes), between you, me and the internet I think he's doing pretty well as an entrepreneur. A better fit IMO would be 'value'.

Profits are what you chase if you are a CEO after quarterly returns and job security. See Amazon [1].

So its functionally the same as an ICO with a 40% premine? Of which 20% of the tokens go directly to the founders because they figured out how to write a paper.

The BTC about 500k USD worth, of which 200k got taken as VAT, was used to develop the technology for the first 2 years. Only in the last month have the IOTA foundation been able to legally access the money donated to them by the community.

As opposed to say, tezos which has 232mil to develop their self-governing token. Additionally, "the founders get 8.5% of the fiat proceeds in cash in addition to 10% of the tokens"\
