I wouldn't buy any Mac products for LLM usage. It's cheaper to just buy a subscription. You enjoy Mac for your personal/professional use. I have been running LLM on Mac, honestly for such an expensive machine I wouldn't want to use it for long runs just for a quick 30 minute usage. It heats up so much you can make an omelette on it. I would NOT want my dedicated MacBook run hot for long these things last forever. Fairly confident if I run LLM's all day long their life will be short lived. In my family my kids are still using their laptops which are papas handovers. I have an iMac from 2014 that my kids still use.

I built a vibe coded version for my personal use. This helped me track projects and other things going on in my small business. Memento gives me a different look with a lot more features to it.

Couldn't agree more. So fed up of these stupid marketers talking about how they built a SAAS solution in days, solved all their technical problems. AI puts everything magically together. All you need is rules files. I cant even build a consistent backend I am ok with any technology it likes. Once you hit a bug it struggles to fix it without breaking 10 other things. I hope some technique comes in that can help you manage what it outputs. In its current state I would be very careful with what is being pushed to production.

I have seen so many millions of dollars thrown away by the government on projects where nothing was delivered. All the consultancies made out like bandits. Over time it's better for government to be very small and not get involved in too many things. They cannot execute and everything gets bastardized over time.

This is a tip of the iceberg as to what these companies do. You have to see how they treat their h1b employees. This is modern day slavery that no one wants to talk about. I guess this is what capitalism has come down to.

It took me less than 5 seconds to come up with one. DOJ needs people to complain about this??? Seriously its wide out in the open. They can just go through job boards and figure what is going on in less than a few days and know which companies to prosecute.

Let us break this position below up. Basically no one other than H1b/F1 are welcome. Show me what specialized skill is needed in the requirements. Why shouldn't an american apply for these jobs?

There are whole IT divisions where there is not a single US citizen or GC holder. Tell me how can one distinguish between projects where the whole project members are H1B holders. Do you expect anyone to complain?

Its cheap indentured labor as simple as that. H1B is supposed to be speciality based positions for skills which are not available locally. Tell me why all the junior developers are H1b. Don't you feel if americans are given the same opportunity for these positions they will not do well. Things are getting so bad out there these days that most jobs are never advertised but they pickup H1B by default so no US citizen ever gets a chance to apply or even compete for these jobs.

Here are the facts I know

I make 2 to 3 times a person on H1b makes. I have close to 100 examples. I am good but not three times good.

H1B is the modern day indentured labor with some American niceties to it. In all honesty as an immigrant I will tell you America treats its immigrants best than the rest of the world. So don't be surprised if there is a never ending line of people wanting to come to america.

As for the issue at hand H1B for surely suppresses salary for americans any spin on it is just spin. It does not give americans who want to change their career into IT options. It makes it harder for anyone to change jobs. Newcomers have a lot of competition with people some with real resumes and mostly fake ones. As you reach late 40's it is impossible to find any STEM jobs since no one is willing to hire you. This holds good for naturalized citizens and locals.

Since most companies who hire H1B know that the H1B will not leave them and go for a minimum of 10 years they happily sponsor. This is due to the fact that a green card roughly takes anywhere from 10 to 12 years. Cheap labor is always good for business.

The government does not care since America needs people to keep growing so they are fine with it. Legal immigration is better and taxable than illegal. Our congress is business friendly so they don't care.

This process will continue till the point where in the salaries of STEM jobs will be so low that most of us will prefer flipping burgers. At that point things might balance out since most of the americans will be looking into other fields other than STEM so no one around to complain.

Also ask the question differently when there is a serious shortage of doctors in all parts of US especially the smaller cities and towns why aren't they bringing in more H1B's there. What is stopping that from happening? This is the STEM curse.

Suggestion for all average americans there is still time try and switch to something where u don't have to compete with H1b you already have a 10 year head start. Here is an idea start a business hire H1B's.

This is not true I am a dev and have been doing development for 15 years till I was forced to change my career. Reason not one big IT shop or Consulting companies want to hire anyone with experience. They want to hire the cheapest H1b's to do coding. Since they accept such low salaries and everyone claims they are a coding expert. In reality it is bodies vs the rates. So if the clients are willing to pay 100 dollars per hour and it costs you 30 dollars per hour by hiring a H1b. You pocket the 70. Since these guys do such a bad job now you can milk the client for all the bug fixes etc for the crappy job. Since there is no easy proven way to evaluate quality other than the number of tickets closed it just does not matter. At no point am I referring to companies in silicon valley like Google, FB, AMZN etc. This is for the consulting industry in the rest of the country where this gets completely misused.

I have seen most of my fellow programmers change their career since having 15 years of experience is bad thing because we are not willing to work for 60K.

Disagree about the broad brush. The quality of H1B workers has gone down so dramatically over years these days anyone qualifies. I have seen people with Phd not get visas because a Java developer fresh of the school who can barely write to code qualifies for the same H1B program. Its one of the most misappropriated use of resources. Much of these admin and coding work can be done by anyone in USA if trained. Thanks to the misuse of H1b visas not one american will be trained by our Fortune 500 companies. At the pace of changes in technology with new acronyms thrown around daily there never will be enough STEM engineers as per this gamed system. But unemployment will always be high and jobs hard to come by. I cannot understand how it is worthwhile to educate your self in this country if you will not find jobs. its shameful that no one cares for the locals in this country.

You will all be shocked if you realize the number of H1B's in the federal government. Forget about private business your jobs are guaranteed to be outsourced sooner or later. Just move to management and skip being skilled labor of any sorts. STEM education is a joke. As a tax payer/citizen there are no jobs in the federal sector either. There are a tonne of folks on H1B at the government agencies itself.

I am not making this up....
