I've applied and we had the first interview by phone. The next step would be a technical test. The recruiter ghosted me and I never got to the test. After 20~ days, I sent an e-mail asking for an answer, even if negative. Never got a reply.

My work experience as a software engineer goes from 2008 to 2017, and there it stops because of health issues, so it's been three years without working. Now I must get back to work. So I've just picked up my old resume in order to rewrite it, and realized I have no idea on how I'm going to explain that. On one hand it seems there's no other way besides telling the truth, but on the other hand it feels like my resume will just be ignored. Should I place it like that:
<hiatus+explanation>
<job N>
...
<job 2>
<job 1>
Or should I write it before/after the jobs listing? Or should I just omit it?

Go getting generics is definitely surprising. I used to even argue in favor of Go the way it is.
If there's one thing I got from these responses, is that I should look at Kubernetes.
Thank you for your answer.

I used to work as a programmer. In 2017, I had to stop working because of health issues. I remember Rust was a cool project, JS had plenty of frameworks fighting between themselves, SPA was a thing albeit I was skeptical of it, and I was in love with Go. Big words like Data Science and Machine Learning were thrown everywhere. Whas has changed in this scenario? Are there new stuff I should know about? Thanks.

I learned Calculus myself through a book called "Calculus - an intuitive and physical approach", by Morris Kline. It is cheap and very didatic.
I never really studied physics, but I found the first books from the "Feynman lectures on Physics" to be very good.

I would expect charging for storage. Let the user try whatever he wants for free -- both the mobile app and the website, but after some point, say one month of average usage, one faces a limited storage problem, solvable with an account upgrade.

You can use any language, but it's not like they are all equal and have the same tooling available. Rust has some distinct features and there is a natural lack of resources as the language is still new, so it's interesting from a developers perspective that someone went through the work of doing all that from scratch and made it to the end.
Also it's an alternative to C++ which is heavily used in gamedev. I personally believe Rust can shine in gamedev and every experiment is interesting.

Hey, thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge. I am aware of how common it is.
I mentioned it now mostly because I am sure I have exposed myself to risky situations (that could have gotten me a way worse outcome than HPV) out of trying to "solve" loneliness, as we are discussing here. (And I ended up being one of the unlucky with persistent high risk strain, had a couple of cauterizations done.)

I can totally relate to that... And considering I am HPV+, the "unhealthy" part might be taken both figuratively and literally. :)
In my case, what could have helped me is guidance.
I am pretty sure it does.
I also have seen this happen with others, and have met girls who were able to recognize the "depressed and lonely programmer" pattern themselves through many similar dates (of course over dating apps) they had.
Also, it seems only logical that a totally male-dominated lonely and addictive profession that usually encourages and/or requires a lot of dedication even outside of worktime would produce a bunch of solitary men. (And maybe _attract_ a bunch of others.)

> Solipsistic professional existence in a largely solipsistic and male-dominated profession. That's a very isolating existence and full of wrong turns unless you make strong, proactive efforts to stay in healthy social circles, which the average mid-20s person isn't going to be scrupulously careful about doing. It's very easy to start pulling dating partners from /dev/urandom, particularly amidst the loneliness and angst that eventually catches up to you.
That's exactly how I messed up my own life.
