Yikes! I've been needing an upgrade, and I was on the fence between a specc'd out MBP, or building out a AI server and delegating tasks to it over Netbird/Tailscale to my homelab.
I'm mainly interested in coding/image creation tasks. Has anyone built out a server for a similar use-case and, if so, whats your experience been? What cards should I be looking into? Am I looking at spending ~10-15k for something that can give me near frontier quality/speed? I know about the DGX Spark/Mac Mini's, but I'd like to be able to upgrade later down the road.

It has. I was just having this conversation with a friend the other day. Despite Netflix having all their analytics/viewership data, they consistently crank out garbage. You might get one or two releases a year that are good, but that's it. I know its subjective, but the few shows that I enjoyed were cancelled or just shelved.
They weren’t perfect, but I want normal Hollywood studios to come back. There was a lot more on the line when it came to creating movies/series and a lot more effort went into creating them. It took actual talent to make something great, not data.
The same is happening in the music industry. I know pop music has more or less sounded the same throughout time...but these days its almost indistinguishable. Studios just pick a public figure to sing a generated song, it goes viral for a few months, rinse repeat. I have a hard time telling the difference between artists these days. Their vocal range/tone is almost identical in some cases.
We have an over abundance of choice when it comes to media and I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Its now a chore to sort through the garbage and find actual talent.
Sorry for the rant!

I've come to despise all streaming services and hope they all burn down. We've gone full circle in terms of price and convenience. Hell, even Prime now wants to you pay extra to not see ads! Wasn't that one of the benefits over cable in the beginning?
I've gone back to buying physical media and just put everything on my Plex server. The perpetual 'rental' model is a failing one and is not consumer friendly.

I think I'll be taking a step back from React/Next.js for the foreseeable future. I feel fortunate in that, for most of my projects, I can make architectural decisions such as this. Things took a turn with hooks (I have a feeling that's the general consensus, too). The nail in the coffin (at least for me) was React Server Components.
I gotta admit that its been liberating working outside the javascript/react realm. Using Go + HTMX + [insert tool here] has been a fairly easy transition. Is it a 1:1 replacement? No. Does it solve most of my use cases whilst providing a better developer experience? Absolutely.
I'm not trying to hate on React here. I just think its time to stop and ask ourselves "is this REALLY the best idea/tool for xyz?".

I spent about a decade in Europe and really enjoyed learning about how their electrical grid works. The ability to directly plug most appliances without needing to buy extra adapters was amazing. Boiling water also took half the amount of time.
If memory serves, Thomas Edison used a 110v DC power supply to create a system of electricity for people. Meanwhile, Nikola Tesla invented the three-phase 240v Alternating Current (AC). Tesla was clearly a man ahead of his time (even by today's standards).
tldr; Europe's grid is vastly superior to America's.

I cant wrap my head around using Git for this...
My sweet spot has been Plex + Plexamp. I have a truenas server and created a 'media' nfs share for my Plex instance. I've been a very happy camper with this set up for the past 3 years. I can expand my storage at any time, ZFS is very powerful and gives me some backup options. Plex effectively replaces all my streaming service needs.

Personally, I think that AAA studios are due for a reality check. There's been _some_ decent releases from these studios in the past decade, but they are few and far between. I can't help but feel that these studios are very disconnected with their audience and have ultimately prioritized profits over passion. I know the bills need to be paid, but somewhere along the line it become more and more noticeable. The market consolidation that's happened (EA and Activision come to mind) has done nothing but hurt the industry. I'd like to call it a monopoly but I'm not certain if that's correct or not. Either way, the current landscape is not great.
I've been gaming since the 90s and I'm generally unhappy with the current state of affairs.
Thank god for indie devs!
/end rant

The documentation and usability of Twitter's API has been in decline for at least a few years now. I gave up in 2018/19 (or whenever they implemented the new version of their API?). This has nothing to do with the advent of Musk, and anyone blaming him are insufferable Musk haters (which is pretty standard these days).
In the beginning, their API was a joy to use and a lot of neat software popped up around it. There was some drama around them making changes internally (API changes) which put some of these companies out of business. People became weary of their API since. That said, I would love to see a completely revamped API with great documentation.
