I don't get it, Google could heavily subsidy their Gemini models to make it more attractive, but they prefer to not do it. I don't know one soul who is using Gemini models to code. Even OpenAI who doesn't have money or capacity is offering their Luna model at $1.2 per 1M/out.

Is it though? I saw a noticeable difference between Sol (xhigh) and Luna (max). Sol appears to understand better my prompts, you need to be more specific/clear with Luna.

America needs its own DeepSeek or Z.ai, a lot of people (myself included) root for open chinese models to win because they have no other choice.

The most impressive part is the token efficiency/cost per task of 5.6 Sol, it makes Opus 4.8 and Fable look extremely bad ($1.04 vs $1.80 vs $2.75)[0].

And 5.6 Luna ($0.21) is also impressive, cheaper than GLM 5.2 ($0.37) with higher intelligence.
