This is still an ulterior motive (even if benign; we all do it to some extent).
Behavior will diverge eventually.
Because emotions are what drives our decisions.
If you really love tennis, then you spend time and money on tennis. If you just say it to be nice (or to impress somebody), you will not invest into activity that much and will search for opportunity to stop.

If one is unable to feel emotion X, then:
1. One has some ulterior motive for faking it.
2. One’s actions will likely diverge from emotion X. (Eventually)
If everybody believe the same lie, then it could be indistinguishable from the truth. (Until, the nature of the lie/truth become clear)

Quite a loaded question (a-tier).
Counter-question/game:
Hypothetically, imagine that you become president of US today, inheriting current situation. What would you do regarding Iran situation?
What is the correct action now in current situation?
Spoiler: I think there is no “correct” solution, somebody will be hurt in the end despite best wishes.
Note: Lower supply of oil and fertiliser affects poorer countries more than the rich ones (possibility of famine in Africa).
Current Iran government just killed their own civilians a month ago in thousands to end protests; and repressions will likely repeat as protests are likely to repeat. (Irans populace seem to be quite educated and want some reforms)
Ground invasion of Iran would cost a lot of lives - civilian casualties always exist.
But honestly, what would you choose to do?

Paper is definitely not the only thing Russia was importing. Check statistics of Russian aviation accidents (not sure if Germany was in supply chain for aviation, but this is visible thing that clearly was affected by sanctions)

> under 21 ft away, at which distance a knife is as dangerous as a gun.
No, it is not as dangerous.
To use gun from 7 meters away, you have throw it, which takes way more movement hand movement and time. While you should not rely on it, it is very feasible to just move out of the way of the thrown knife.
Other possibility getting closer to you. Running will take 2 seconds. (Not a lot, but definitely not as dangerous as a handgun)

> It really is not that difficult
If you do that daily, sure it is easy. But a lot of human behaviour is automatic, based on what we are accustomed to do daily. (During covid there were many videos, where person on the screen says “… also avoid touching your face …”, while touching his/her face)

In general, some java language changes do involve JVM changes.
So yes, it impacts other jvm languages like Closure.
Here most obvious would be GC improvements.

Java is 4th on tiobe.
Bright future for it just means it is not planning to become 40th or 400th.
(My prediction - in next ten years java will always be among top 6; new language might come to the very top and some leapfrogging game between c# and java)

> for not embracing religion of OOP and FactoryFactory
Not the case today. Of course, crappy code (or questionable patterns) can be found in all languages, and java community had made some innovations in the area early on, but today we have a different picture.
FactoryFactory has gone mostly extinct, the most likely place to see it is “dailywtf.com”.
We now know that we prefer composition over inheritance, we have stream api - language and community evolved, old patterns are not neccessary anymore to solve same/similar problems.
Sample of one - junit (testing lib) source code, from quick glance it seems more procedural than dogmatic OOP: https://github.com/junit-team/junit-framework/blob/main/juni...
